Earlier a discussion was posed about the defense of the CUV trend in the automotive industry, which I agreed with. I am looking forward to the next step... putting the SPORT into utilitarian vehicles, and I am not talking about outdoor sportsmanship, I am talking about performance motoring, atop a versatile platform.
The Lamborghini Urus is a 5-door, but might as well be a 3-door by that design, and GMC Typhoon was a vehicle 25 years before it’s time, yet now that it’s time has come, is not revived.
Sport coupes, muscle cars, and other fun cars with two side doors are very cool... but what if there was something that also had ground clearance and traction capabilities, without having to be a rough-and-tumble Jeep Wrangler... Something that would not end up in a ditch in the winter, and be able to cross open ground if asked. Not a rock crawler, but not strictly pavement bound, either.

I only tolerate CUVs because they are closer to the ideal of the shooting brake.
SUVs are for people who have kids and need to bring stuff. All other excuses are invalidated by the actuality of said SUVs.
CUVs are for impotent people who have stuff but not kids. These vehicles should be ignored for the simple fact that they are pointless expressions of infertility. Just go find someone else to masturbate into a cup or drive an actual truck if you can’t find or afford an appropriate shooting brake.

My favorite sporty crossovers are the Vibe GT/Matrix XRS (2ZZ yo!), HHR SS (excellent handling and the LNF), and PT Cruiser GT (a Neon SRT4 crossover, and even available as a convertible). A ways back is the Caliber SRT4 (basically a FWD Evo)

Which exact shooting brake would that be, then, that has AWD traction, and ground clearance enough for bad pavement and snow? I only ask because obviously you are so far superior a human to be capable of make value judgements about other PEOPLE, based solely on your opinion of their car.
I hope life is so absolutely wonderful for you that your car portrays your apparent perfection.
And heaven forbid people have more than one car, for more than one purpose.
I’d love a muscle/sports coupe like a new Mustang, to drive to work every day, and actually enjoy commuting sometimes... save the fact that I actually MUST get to work throughout the 6 months of winter weather, and frost-heaved and destroyed pavement of the snow belt, and sometimes carry items that might not fit through a minuscule trunk lid.
I don’t need 4000lbs, and seating for five to get myself to work consistently in all seasons.
What is so wrong with a form factor that might actually be a the closest thing to a real world rally car... rally cars aren’t low to the ground on rubber-band-thin tires, like WRXs and Evo Xs, and cars of that size have almost no practical use for such small rear seats that require tandem side doors, compared to a 2+2 with longer coupe-style doors, and lower-height rooflines.

Now this is an idea I’ve been waiting for for a while now. There’s a massive gap in the market for something inbetween a beach-buggy/sand rail/baja racer and the existing CUVs.
There’s nothing on the market for a car that you could conceivably use to bring your shopping home one day, and tear up an offroad course at speed the next. Plus, they could use the Dakar/Baja to promote them.
It’s been presaged by things like the Ariel Nomad, and this kickass custom Evoque:
I’m kind of hoping whatever CUV Lotus produces will fill this niche :)
