Oh, wow. Bummer. Growing up in the New York area, I’ll never forget when Nassau was the center of the hockey universe. We were Rangers fans and I once got sent to the principal’s office for wearing a shirt that read “Islanders Suck.” He made me turn it inside out.

I’ve never been a fan of either team (go Blackhawks!), but you have to respect the greats, no matter which team they play for.

I’m a Rangers fan and I’ve never heard a bad thing about Al. He was a great coach and from what i’ve heard of him, even better person.
Classy move by the Isles a few years ago to let him coach one more game to get to 1,500 games.

I hadn’t heard about that 1500 games story. Classy indeed.

I heard loads of great things about him as a Blues player when they were an expansion team. It gave my dad and I someone else to root for aside from the Blues when he coached the Isles. What a class act and a great coach. RIP.

The man played in the days of no helmets, and he wore glasses on the ice. What more could you ask for in a hockey player?
