This is an Extended Cab Ranger with a 7 foot bed. One problem: All the 7’ bed Rangers were single cabs on extended cab chassis’. That means there is no frame under the last foot of the bed on this truck. What unsafe thing did they do to get the rear bumper to attach? How does the Fuel Filler neck attach? How is this thing safe? The answer to question #3: its not.

This was obviously a work truck that someone destroyed the bed on and the dealer selling it got a random junkyard bed without doing any research.

Could also be a custom job. It’s done quite often around here to 22re yotas.

Guy 1: “Does it fit”

Guy 2: “Kinda”

Guy 1: “Good enough, don’t forget the chrome stickers”

Guy 2: “I’ll throw in a random Ford decal too!”

^not a valid engineering discussion

Unsure why anyone would spend the money to do this truck up when an equivalent Toyota or Ford was a couple grand away.

So true. You could get a 4x4, 4.0 V6, manual Ranger in better shape with less miles on craigslist for the list price of this RWD, 3.0 V6, automatic Ranger

Could be, but why....

Im all for personalized and custom Rangers, but this kind of custom job just screams stupid to me

My guess is mostly just to have something nobody else, or few others, have.

IDK if they were factory, but I’ve seen several of these before. My guess is, safe or not, it’s an easier swap then you may think.

The extent of my knowledge is an ‘87 Toyota Longbed w/ a 5M and locking hubs. Nice blue truck.

Picture is of a 6 footer. Based on the fact that it’s a XLT, an extended cab, and location of the fuel filler door. I think your eyes or the the canopy are tricking you into thinking the bed is longer than it is.

The axle and real wheels would be in the wrong place if they just slapped a long bed on an extended cab. At the very least it seems they must have cut the frame and welded in extensions, as well as lengthening the drive shaft. Probably still a risk to break in half, though.

Its possible. The day I bought my Ranger, I couldve sworn it had a 7’ bed up against my friend’s 97 single cab

Looks like a 6 foot bed to me...otherwise yeah, a lot of effort would have gone into moving the rear axle for really not much payoff.

I was thinking the same thing. Also, if they tried to stick a long bed on an extended cab truck, the wheel wells would not line up.
