It sucks to hear it put down in solid terms like that, but that gets you one step closer to getting rid of it.
Its hard to take that first step, but you’ve done it now, and you should be proud of that. Keep it going, man.

No way, diagnosis is a step forward. Keep up the treatment, depression blows but I like to think of it as a symptom of having at least one part of your brain being too awesome and depression levels it out.

He’s here all week folks!
Pills and talk therapy. There are lots of different sort of pills - they finally found the one that worked for me. Talking helps, although I’m on hiatus from therapy right now. Just don’t ignore it.

Sorry, I’ve been watching a lot of MASH lately. As for depression, I was there myself once, took a long time to get through it, the big thing for me was to force myself to lie about how great a person I was, i took a while before I realized I wasn’t lying, im actually pretty great.

eh, It’s not so bad really. Just remember it’s only a diagnosis not a lable. Work with your Dr on a course of treatment, stick to it. give them time to work as they are no magic bullet. May go threw a few rounds of medication even till you find one that works. But most importantly you gotta try to think positively. It’s been a few years since my diagnosis and I’m more or less happier than I have been at any point in my life. I’m actually not even on pills for depression any more or anxiety. Tho I did just start on adderall and always with the sleeping pills. But I digress, this is about you.
Hang in there buddy Life always gets better when you work on it and depression is just a word it’s not you.

I’m right with you. It’s a shame there’s such a stigma about it because I was always taught that it was my fault and a personality flaw that I was always fatigued, angry, lonely, etc...
But now that I’ve got a good regimen of medication and therapy, life is a whole lot easier to live. Listen to your doctor, try to stay on the minimum amount of medication to keep everything stable, and remember that the pills aren’t a solution in themselves but a tool to help you so you can cope on your own.
Here’s an article that has good information interspersed with fart and wiener jokes.

Diagnosis is a huge step. Most who struggle with this walk around undiagnosed all their lives. Good job going in there and talking to some one. It couldn’t have been easy.

I have (have had) that. I’ve been stuggling with it on and off since 2005, if not before (even as a small child I had thoughts of self-harm). Sometimes it gets better, sometimes it gets worse. We’re here for you if you need someone to talk to.
