Saw this on facebook this today... Apparently Utah is kinda over the coal-rollers to the degree that you can now report them to the state. I’m not a big fan of Utah, (excepting canyon country, of course) but this is pretty cool. Once reported, the state contacts the vehicle’s owner and requests a revisit to the emissions check....

Why you no like Utah? You’re not one of those people that moved here and was surprised that it gets cold and snowy are you? The other option is that you feel ways and things about those Mormons and their strange ways to which I offer.
In any case, this is interesting stuff.

Unless you are in summit county where we have no emissions and probably more of the people who would do that sort of thing.

Come on, everyone knows that your intelligence and worth is directly related to how close you live to an ocean.
No the Great Salt Lake doesn’t count as an ocean because reasons.

This doesn’t explain Florida at all.

Summit county doesn’t do emissions? that surprises me. OH well, I guess the prius count in park city makes up for all the guys with old ratty trucks that are way out.

Driving a Colorado-licensed vehicle behind the Zion Curtain has always been sketchy... But now since we legalized, the hassle-factor has gotten fucking ridiculous. And yes, I do think (a large) part of the problem is that I’m not a member of the “scientology of the 1800’s” cult...

It’s really only the Front Range (denver zone) of Colorado that does emissions testing..

You guys also have the no idling rules too. I imagine it has something to do with being in a valley. I also am not a huge fan of Utah, but then I am allergic to cold. Also it feels like the 15 has been under construction since before the Olympics.

I think the only thing funnier than the strange things we Mormons do are the hilariously boomerang attitudes of the anti-Mormon-culture types. riding the chairs with these guys is the worst. YES we know about the strange liqueur laws, NO I don’t care that you can’t you apres ski on. YES i know its different in Colorado...have you tried living there?

I wasn’t aware there was a tag on your plates indicating your religious affiliation.

Speaking of Utah, not Colorado. Salt lake county does emissions.

It’s ok to be bigoted against religion now.

Utah has a geographical problem called the inversion where polutants are trapped in between the mountains caused by cold air, meaning all the crap that gets spewed out stick around and creates some very unhealthy air. However, contrary to popular belief that the car is always to blame, the main contributor to unsafe conditions is wood burning and industrial process.

I realized after posting that you were talking about summit co utah versus summit country CO..
![]() 08/27/2015 at 13:26 |

yup, I guess I shouldn’t be shocked there is a summit county in Colorado I suppose.

Yeah, that’s a lot more detailed. Why is the 15 always under construction?
![]() 08/27/2015 at 13:28 |

Cause people want to move to Utah. That and its always torn up from snow removal, salting and cold expansion every year. ProTip: To not sound like a tourist if you visit (please do!), there is no “the” in front, its just 15, or 215, or maybe I15 or I215, etc.

so any fool can report anyone and the result is you HAVE to go get retested? well that’s a waste of my time, should someone think it humerous to prank me.

Just an observation, but you seem a bit sensitive to others’ opinions of mormanism....

I’m usually in the general Salt Lake area a couple times a year. In my state everything is “the” followed by the road numbers, hard to not. Plus, I’m pretty sure my out of state plates probably give it away along with my not temperature appropriate attire.

WE do weird stuff, or stuff that would appear weird, no question, but the whole “I have to hate the Mormons and their strange ways because they appear weird to me or slightly inconvenience me” attitude of being not LDS in Utah is exactly as lame, and annoying as the “I have to hate the Camry and Prius because I’m a car guy and those cars are bought by non car people” attitude.

Yeah, Mormons the last minority group it’s ok to marginalize.

I’m crazy tired of the anti-culture types. You guys just have to realize that you are super obnoxious with the whole attitude. Does it really affect your life that much? Wouldn’t your life be easier just...not caring about what other people do with their lives? Its like the people who loudly leave facebook, yeah we get it...neat.

Oh, that’s right- drinking=destroying your liver..... As if there’s no middle ground between enjoying a cold beer and becoming an unhealthy alcoholic.... I’m not bigoted against religions, but I’m more than happy to openly laugh at moralistic scolds.....
![]() 08/27/2015 at 13:49 |

Of course there’s a middle ground, my point was that it’s more socially accepted to be totally trashed in public than to abstain.

Um.... dude... YOU brought up religion not ME! At no point did I bring up mormons in the original post, you were the one to post the eye-roll gif after accusing me of either being a bitch for disliking cold or that I had some polemic against religious mormons. When I spoke of not liking somethings about utah, I meant the cops. But because the cops act like hay-seed rednecks that dislike anyone who’s either, not extended family, or from outside the state....
And by the way, regarding your “does it really affect your life that much?” comment.. considering that the mormon church up in till a few years ago claimed that blacks are black because god hates them... as well as the church propping up anti-gay marriage initiatives in other states... uh actually, YES! your religion does affect others....
Geez.... you guys need to chill... And besides, doesn’t your magic panties protect you from others’ shit-talking anyway?

Im just tired of the 2 big reasons people automatically hate Utah. As you’ve admitted as such for one of the two I don’t see how I was making bad assumptions. everything is affected by everything else, taking stands against things you like doesn’t mean that things you like that you take stands for doesn’t affect others, there is no point in pretending that either of us has the corner on the market for ideas. I brought up Mormon culture, not the religion, you brought up the “scientology of the 1800’s”. My point being that I don’t really care that you have a thing against the culture but I sure am tired of people like you taking the anti-culture high ground. Its a counter position that’s just as annoying to me as you perceive this culture to be annoying to you. Attacking a persons faith based on a quick googling of the strange rumors you’ve heard (magic panties? cmon, what are you 12?) is just as pathetic as hating on a car because its the easy and popular car to hate. Its uneducated, biased and ignorant.

Salt Lake would be an amazing city if it weren’t for the Mormon laws. If they only knew the truckloads of colorado beer my friends and I hauled in there each month! We also had to live out in middle of nowhere 2 hours east of salt lake. So there wasn’t much to do...

No Ferraris in Utah then?
