What is the best liquor you can get a fifth or handle of for $30?

My girlfriend and I are wanting to have a drunk bad anime night tomorrow night but need booze. So what do you recommend? The only no goes are tequila, bourbon (especially jim beam *shutters*), and vodka.

For 30 bucks, you could probably get a shitload of Boons Farm. It's cheap and comes in a million flavors. I don't know how the hell you classify it though. Basically 2 buck chuck.

I mean there’s really good whiskeys that are NOT bourbons, do you want tips on those are are you really just looking at rum?

Best punch you in the face you can buy then is bacardi 151.

Best non-spiced rum I’ve found is Bacardi 8, it’s not spiced but it’s a dark rum. It’s aged 8 years. And you’ll feel fancy as shit because it has a corked lid lol.

Gin sucks.

I don’t know where you are in the country to even get it, but excluding what you have listed, I am a big fan of brandy and coke. Basically, get a handle of Korbel brandy for less than $30 and a 12 pack of coke and enjoy. However, while brandy is stocked at every grocery store, liquor store, or childcare center in Wisconsin, it may be harder to find elsewhere. In that case, Sailor Jerry.

I don’t want to live on this planet, so I’ll give you a contrarian answer.

Sauza Hornitos Reposado or Olmeca Altos Reposado. Good enough to drink straight, but not so pricey you won’t want to mix them.

For volume, Pinnacle vodka 1.75L is about $20. Bang for buck is incredible and it’s almost as good as Skyy or Absolut (the benchmarks of midgrade vodka, imho).

Maker’s Mark might be pushing the budget a bit, but don’t drink cheap bourbon or you’ll hate it forever.

Gin? I think Bombay Sapphire East is a good introduction into the gin world. It’s smoother and easier to drink than most but still gives you a solid gin bouquet of flavors. I think it runs about $26 a bottle, so buy a couple limes and some tonic water to hit $30.

It’s technically an alcoholic beverage at the very least. I was thinking value here. And, knowing that it was a popular staple of a lot of girls I knew when I was in college. That’s actually how I would usually play beer pong is with Boon’s Farm. lol

Tequila always gives me a major hangover and so I don’t really care for it. I don’t like the flavor of vodka. And cheap bourbon is the reason I listed it and I don’t want any in that price range.

I meant it’s just like one of those fruity seagrams wine cooler drinks for a buck each, but overgrown to a full wine bottle.

Good tequila shouldn’t give you a hangover, but most people just stick with too much Jose Cuervo (and shoot it to lessen the pain) and they pay the price.

If you can’t squeeze some straight lime juice into it and drink it, it’s not good tequila (or even straight, or with a splash of water). And decent tequila is not expensive thanks to how many are on the market now. Definitely worth a second look. I wrote it off for 10+ years and only started getting back into it recently.

well said. I feel the same about Canadian Whiskey.

Life gets better past Royal Canadian hahaha. And Crown Royal is not the best price per bottle of Canadian Whiskey.
