Went to the DMV during my lunch break to renew my license that expires next week. Checked online ahead of time and it showed a 12 minute waiting time. I showed up with all necessary paperwork filled out, additional ID, proof of address and cash money in hand. Spent 45 minutes of my lunch hour waiting in the lobby AND THEY STILL DIDN’T CALL MY NUMBER!!!!!!! Guess I shall take a long lunch tomorrow and hope my luck is better.

A bunch of people probably arrived a few minutes after you checked.

The waiting clock they show online at our DMV is worthless. It only counts from the time you get sorted at the desk. It always shows 5-10 minuteish wait. Problem is, it can be a 2 plus hour line to get to the sorting desk.

Actually I’m guessing alot of DMV employees went to lunch right before I arrived since it was shortly after noon.

One reason I like living in a state capitol. It took me about 15 minutes beginning to end to get my Driver’s License transferred.

My local branch likes to close early, seemingly always 10-15 minutes before I arrive.

Yeah - crazed. Dunno, because I had such an opposite experience last week it was, frankly, silly and cause for much celebration.
Attempt 1) got book, read, went to do the deed. Not enough SS/Birth/Physical Address verification (what?) Need official docs. OK. My current license in another state appears to be worthless for any of the above. 5 days before expiration.
Attempt 2 a day lateron) I have a printout from SS org ordering my SS card (not official so they could have rejected it since I couldn’t find my original card), I found my passport, I had another utility bill that didn’t have a service address but corroborated my mailing address (and therefore was ok.) Except - standing in line, I was 5 minutes past the 30 min cutoff for test taking. This is a Thurs. Lady asks, when’s the license expire, I reply, Sunday. Friday is a state holiday, which I didn’t know. She looks at me and says, if this continues Monday, you’ll have to start everything over as if you’ve never driven and all of this paperwork you’ve filled out is worthless.
A moment of “moo cow eyes” ensues as I realize just how screwed I really am. There is no help for it. Just a moment of intense sadness and acceptance.
Then she says, Ok, we have to get this done. I’ll do the paperwork while you test, the testing area is closed but I’ll buzz you in, go. Holy shit, yeah baby? Into the room I go. She comes in 5 mins later and says, your license is also good for motorcycles, take this test too. I didn’t even care about the M class qualifications cause I don’t have a motorcycle right now. I take them.
I come out, I pass them both. All the paperwork gets done, it’s 10 mins past closing and I’m the last one getting my card. This.Never.Happens.To.Me. Never. Not at the DMV.
I think, somehow, someway, there’s flowers or chocolates or something in that woman’s future.
