Honestly I like these little cars. Loads of fun, especially with a manual (which this one does not have). Their big failing is that once you price one out with a manual you’re encroaching into nice s2000 country. And I’ll take the Honda every time.

I can’t stand how the top crops the side windows when it’s up.

It doesn’t. There’s only a centimeter or so of overlap for weather sealing purposes. That’s the actual shape of the glass.

My real hatred comes from my height. I can’t see anything above the horizon in my Miata and the Solstice/Sky looks so much worse.

I think what he means is that the glass should go up higher to meet the fabric, not the fabric come down to meet the glass.

hot rod built one and I remember reading the articles in detail and it was insanse. LS7 and a whole lot of supporting mods. I always wanted a redline version and put the factory kit on it for more HP. I wonder what they drive like compared to my miata.

This is why it’s better than the s2000

Now, off to find one with a broken motor or a ridiculously high mileage motor.

And I’ll spend a little more than the S2000 and get a 6 cylinder BMW Z4.

Good friend of mine picked a 40k mile Turbo auto Solstice for 8k. Really fun car.

I’ve found that BMW’s non-M engines are great for commuting, but rather soulless and boring. Sure they’re smooth, but that basically means they’re too quiet and civilized when you are trying to drive spiritedly.

V6’s sound better thanks to their inherently growly 3-cylinder banks.

Kinja'd!!!

You then have the wrong BMW, because a Z4 is not quiet and civilised, especially in high output N52 form.

Compared to a 2.7T Audi V6 with a Milltek exhaust? Umm...no contest. The BMW has better noise. Intake *and* exhaust.
