1983, I came soooooo close to paying $ 8,000 (Canadian $) for a pink/white coupe just like that.

I chickened out.

My friend has one. It’s pretty awesome car. His car has the optional air conditioning unit which is mounted in the trunk (as most early a/c units in 50’s were). The cool air is routed through the roof to the front of the car. The hat shelf has transparent plastic ducts as the pillars are too thin to be used to route the air. I didn’t have a picture of my friend’s car but here’s similar that has similar ducts.

I know nothing of LA. From the wiki article it seemed kinda prominent at one time.

These cars are maybe the best designed Lincolns of the 50’s. Your friend has a very beautiful car. Not my first pick for a color but stunning nevertheless.

My friend’s car is black with white roof and it looks very nice. 1956 models looks pretty nice too.

A fun history fact is that Packard tried to buy body tooling for 56/57 Lincolns to have something decent to offer as they couldn’t afford to build completely new car. They even built some prototypes using Lincoln bodies. I think that photos of these haven’t survived.

That looks remarkably like an Edsel.

Quite a lot indeed. Edsel designer Roy Brown said that the horse collar grille design was influenced by 30’s LaSalle’s.

Not the first car I would be taking my inspirations from if I was looking at cars from the 30s.
