Maybe Toyota Corporate is finally getting the message that we want it. I have been following a few of the more interesting segments for this “ever better expedition” and they are usually let downs. but this gem? yeah, thats a good little gem.
That’s right Toyota. Give us the D!

If Toyota made the new Tacoma with a 6spd diesel option, I would seriously consider purchasing instead of going the route I'm going now.

Well then, I'll continue on with plans to get a Legacy GT.

I will say, Toyota seems to work harder at getting feedback from their customers. I’ve owned one for a month and already been sent 3 well thought out surveys from them that actually gave me the opportunity to express my feedback for their product.
They also seem to do a lot of this sort of thing, not just as a marketing gimmick, but to actually learn something.
Toyota is making cars differently, and I’m kind liking what I’m seeing.

Kudos to them. I think the only thing I’ve ever gotten from Honda is two recall notices - one saying that they don’t have the parts for it, but will let me drive around with an airbag that could potentially blow rusty metal into my face.
But, maybe that’s because it is a used car. Either way, it’s always nice to see companies asking for legitimate feedback.

I’ve bought new or leased from 10 different brands now, Toyota is doing the most to understand my buying and ownership experience.
The effort really shows up in their cars, too (except for the nav). There was no getting used to my Tundra, everything works exactly how you expect it to, and is exactly where you reach to do it. The fit and finish is incredible, I can only imagine how well built the JDM Toyotas are.

As much flak as we do give Toyota, they do a pretty good job.

I kind of dislike the position they are putting me in. I disliked their cars so much for so long, because I never saw them as something I own. Once I became responsible for one, and was constantly reassured by every quality cue it could possibly convery, I started to love them: http://oppositelock.kinja.com/why-toyotas-ar… .

Last time I talked with a Toyota engineer he sounded like any cummins deal was long dead. He was saying they built that 1 ton truck as a demo truck and the prototype 5 liter cummins and according to him the NVH was not up to Toyota standards so they didn’t make much effort to pursue that relationship. If they made a boosted, cleaned up, 5 liter version of the twin turbo 1vd-ftv it would be a killer engine; 330 hp and 550 lbs-ft wouldn’t be hard and it would still be under stressed. plop that in a tundra and see what happens.
Its only my opinion but I get the impression that the race to the top is no longer the important race, its the race to the middle. best towing and best economy in a half ton.
