Such a cool rarity. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 30’s Desoto built out as a hot rod so I had to share. I found this while surfing CL.

Kinja'd!!!

I think my favorite parts are that they didn’t do the standard Chevy 350 hot r0d swap. They took a 400 Chrysler motor out of a cop car.

Props. Front tires are a little beefy for me on a hotrod, but overall, it’s a really, really cool car.

I’d put the original or a more correct steering wheel back in it, maybe dechrome the tire carrier, and call it good.

Those seem like completely understandable requests.

And thankfully, pretty cheap which would make it still worth buying.

Interesting alternative Hot Rod. I am of the opinion however engine and car must always be from the same manufacturer. Therefore I see no other choice. The Desoto must be powered by the 383 wedge head out of a 1959 Adventurer cranking out 350hp.

As long as they’re from the same parent company, fair is fair my man.

Chrysler owned DeSoto!

lol!

I actually like the H3 so I’m not offended. We’ll say it had...”classic lines”

Haha, for classics and hot rods I prefer a carbureted non computer controlled motor.

That being said I wouldn’t say no to a bigass hemi in this either!

That is fair. A 440 or a Hemi 427 would be excellent.

Something that’s probably never been said about the H3 before...

I had a friend who had an H2 on Maui and he really used it... hard. So my experience with that product line was different from most. They’re pretty capable right out of the box.

Yes they sure are.

when I was young my dad had a 1996 GMC Yukon 2 door. We went to the auto show and saw the H2 bare frame. He said “What’s the big deal it’s identical to my Yukon under here”. Just proves that right there.

Though, for the H3 if combined with the V8, it’s a really epic SUV, and the H3 did just fine MPG wise vs it’s competitors, it was just dogged on as the “baby hummer” and also got tagged with the thoughts of “it’s got terrible mileage because it says hummer on it”

We almost bought one when we test drove my wife’s Jeep Commander. Biggest problem is you can’t see a damn thing out of them hahaha.
