Not this one. I just need the engine (and possibly transmission).
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
to go into this:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
or this as a second choice:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
or I suppose this would be an insane option (that I am certain I don’t have the skill to do):
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
But mainly the idea of dropping that newer LT1 into the 68 (Which to me looks like a ‘69 based off of the door locks - aren’t those a little recessed on a ‘68) sounds like a great idea. I think I can even get a hold of the chrome. I mean, I would have to fly to Illinois, and dig through the spare parts for my dad’s 69, but he had a ton of extra parts for the car.

The LT1 will bolt right into the C3 — just make sure it isn’t already numbers-matching, as that’s the $$$$ for you.

Someone selling it for that money if it was still numbers matching would be just insanity, the kind you don’t check until you get the car home after money has changed hands. I saw a numbers matching 68 at Bloomington Gold’s when I was a kid where it was super rough (lots of it was in boxes) and the price was $8000. I think it had never been restored. That was in the late 90s though. And if I remember right it was a high output 427.

You need to rescue that ‘68 regardless of anything else.

Sadly, I have no funds available to rescue it. I have a 1980 450SL that I couldn’t say no to. It was looking so forlorn in that guy’s yard next to its sibling that had it’s still warm body buried under junk. And it looked so lost amongst the Chrysler Siebrings. I had to give it a home.
I am trying to get my father to donate money as he is a C3 fan. No reply so far.

It isn’t. No 350 in ‘68 Vettes. And that engine is newer than a ‘68.
