Original MSRP for 2009 DBS- !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! or !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Taken off eBay at $155,600. Even with the wrong retail price for the DBS the seller would have had to sell at $25k below asking to make this a $200k savings. A mighty large assumption if you ask me.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

In trying to figure out where the hell he got his numbers from I turned to the all-knowing Google. The majority of results from searching !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is this stupid article and results concerning the DBS Zagato which was sold at !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . He might as well of stated that you would save 1 kerbajillion dollars by buying a 1997 Ford Contour. No shit buying a “base” model DBS presents a substantial savings relative to a superlimited design by the most famous coachbuilder in the world. Hell, comparing the DBS to that truly undersells these savings as the Zagato sold at $517,638 in USD (current exchange rates). Going back to the assumption that the seller gives no shits about profit and sold the DBS for much less than asking he could have stretched this to a savings of $400,000! That’ll get those clicks!

Patrick George, do you really want to know what is wrong with Jalopnik? This type of shit right here. Constant articles that are just pure clickbait and WRONG. 5 minutes of Google research is all it takes to debunk the claims in this article and others. I get that this was probably hashed out in 10 minutes but if you’re that pressed for time just don’t write. Boycotting his articles won’t make an impact as the comments tend to prove that many will just swallow these ideas whole. The basic premise is strong (It’s a sweet car) just settle for the “saved $100,000” headline rather than lie and stretch for the “saved $200,000”

$330k smelled like bullshit but I figured since it was a ‘loaded’ model it was just added options. I don’t get it, the article would’ve had the same impact if he had (correctly) stated you could buy the DBS for half the price as new, so why needlessly exaggerate? It just makes you look uninformed and/or dishonest.

I’m so tired of half-truths on Jalopnik. But if Jalopnik wants to be a click-farm so be it. The minor stories generally break first here on Oppo anyways.

Since I have been unfollowed by CarBuying, I’ll post here.

Another complaint I have is that Tavarish has flipped cars like ‘06 Cadillacs and DDs a depreciated S-Class. As far as I can tell, and please correct me if I’m wrong, he has never bought a vehicle for, or near, $100k yet he is posting articles about salvaged Lambos and unused Aston Martins. Were he a person who actually did this, I’d have no issues. He should post articles up his alley, like a 2001 SL for peanuts, or something. Also when he posts articles about buying two wrecked Ferarris and slapping them together to make one running... I mean... I KNOW he’s never done anything like that. It’s also just lazy. He just browses eBay and copypastas the description, and just assumes everything is true and does no fact checking (like warranties, or perhaps that auctioned C7).

“Original MSRP for 2009 DBS- $269,000 or $278,370 (as tested by MT)

But that’s before dealer prep fees, dealer installed items and the TruCoat!

It is a part of Gawker, after all. I’ve started visiting the FP less and less because (like you said) most of the stuff worth knowing about makes its way to Oppo eventually or comes from here to begin with.

Undoubtedly click bait. Wish it could be honest. I don’t understand paying someone to write the “you could buy x for the price of y.” Many of tavarish’s articles have been interesting, but these are just cheap garbage. There's so much better stuff posted on Oppo it's not even funny. I used to look at the FP a lot more, now I hardly glance at it (I must admit Doug is a guilty pleasure)

He also states it comes with full factory warranty when it doesn’t. The ad doesn't even mention it, so he just made this tidbit up?

I guess he figures that the 10,000 mile factory warranty is timeless *shrugs* but yeah he’s wrong about that too.
