That happened to me at the office one day after walking across some de-icer on the way in. People followed the trail across the carpet from the break room all the way to my office.

One time I lose the sole of my shoe while riding a floorless roller coaster. My left foot suddenly felt a bit lighter for some reason, and then when I got off, I was about an inch shorter on that side. The rest of the day was not particularly fun.

My shoes are getting there. I’d get new brake shoes before my own shoes :)
