I was watching the Forza Motorsport 4 Trailer this morning, the one with Clarkson in it and realized that the key fob that the guy pulls out for his DB9 is nearly identical to the one for my V50...this is, of course, before the Emotion Control Units were released...

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

In comparison...

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Nearly identical except for mine has a built in key transponder...

So are there any parts that your daily driver shares with something more exotic?

Old B7 had the same Nav unit as the Lamborghini Galladro.

It turns on courtesy lighting at night. So the front DRLs light, interior lights turn on, rear parking lights on, license plate light on, and two lights under the rear view mirror...I believe its one of the features adopted from Ford as my dad’s Volvo has it as well, but it’s very nice to have on a dark night...I was under the impression that it was standard, but I guess your C30 doesn’t have it?

Kinja'd!!!

Imagine this but with less LED effect and on a V50...

Makes sense because VAG parts...

It was a pretty good nav unit though. People who don’t like them just don’t know how to use them.

I was just surprised how different our keys are. My lightbulb does that

Cool! They must have changed it in the three years in between...

Likely is exactly the same key; there’s a photo I remember seeing of an Aston key fob with a damaged leather cover hiding what I belive was a Volvo logo; I’ll have to see if I can find it

EDIT- found it!

That’s amazingly blatant! It seems like something GM would do, but I never thought Ford would stoop so low...

Yeah, you can also find Mazda Parts on Astons. Ford was quite the expert with parts sharing

I really like your car! The V50 has always appealed to me.

Do you have your full license yet?

Ford quality indeed...

Thanks! I really love my V50 as well, even if it is the slower 2.4 engine it sounds great under acceleration...nothing beats that 5-Cyl rumble...

Not yet, I have a permit so far and will probably get a provisional license in Jan, upgraded to full license in 2017.

I would definitely consider one as a first car for myself (or the S40/C30). Does it take premium fuel? That would be the biggest downside for me.

I can get my permit in March. I can’t wait! Everyday I get closer than I’ve ever been before in my life.

I use midgrade, but I think it runs ok on regular...premium isn’t all that more expensive though, and I think it’s worth it if the manufacturer recommends it...the T5 is known to be faster than my 2.4 but more expensive, repair prone and less fuel efficient, so it really is a matter of what you are interested in...how old are you currently? I’m surprised by our closeness in age...

Here on the east coast premium seems to be about 40 cents more than regular! Obviously if premium was required I would put in premium, because the engine was designed for it... I would much rather have reliability+efficiency over speed for a first car.

I am currently 15. My birthday is March 23rd.
