I figured it was something along those lines, but it just sounded funny.

That reminds me, I had a drunk at my shop the other day telling me that the Harley-Davidson V-Rod has a Japanese engine designed by Porsche and built by Toyota.

Yep, it was a thing. much like the fact that Lotus developed the quad cam 5.7 in the 1991 ZR1. They also built a number of mules with active suspension systems. Wish I could find one of those bastards...
Also, for maximum wtf, when Maximum bob convinced Chrysler to buy Lamborghini back in the early 90’s, bob was looking for a place to showcase his new V12 toys. Naturally he turned to formula 1, and entered talks with Mclaren, of all teams. It was 1993, and mclaren, save for a couple of race victories due to Senna’s prophetic ability, was having it’s ass handed to it by the active suspension williams cars. Thus Ron was looking for an answer, and since he didn’t have the time or tech to develop the suspension, naturally he went looking for horsepower, as the highly strung honda units were passing thier limits. Enter a Mclaren 4/12 with lamborghini power. Hakkinnen, then test driver, was just under a second faster with the new power plant. Senna, was closer to three. Ron renneged, having seen existing privateers struggle with poor reliability from the lamborghini plant, senna left, and god forbid he’d said yes, senna would have had at least one more championship, and been with us to show us the mastery, art and god given gift of oneness with the car. Basically, the industry is full of wtf collaborations.
If you really want to puke, look up peter brock (Australian Touring car legend) tuned Lada’s and the proton satria GTi, which is actually a re-bodied, previous generation at the time of launch, Mitsubishi mirage, with handling by lotus, as proton bought a majority stake in the company.

What I meant by that was that he was at least partially correct, I know Toyota didn’t touch it. Besides, it wouldn’t have been Toyota, it would have been Yamaha.

That...I don’t... look... the mechanics of it would be so unreliable... you win.
