Enthusiast owned, comes with a binder of receipts and maintenance records, low miles, tons of upgraded parts and no expenses spared.

$13,000 though. A bit too much for me.

Maybe he can be a bit flexible depending on how high you’re willing to go...it is an amazingly beautiful example and definitely a once in a lifetime kinda thing but finances always come first priority, unfortunately...

Yet sadly it more than likely would still have issues

There you go. Just plan ahead for turbos and call it good. I’ve never seen an Arnott bag fail, so nice to know they’re done.

I’d only be able to go $8,000.

We all know the stories, the horrors, the front end rebuilds. Can’t we just say this car is a nightmare? Even if the previous owner has fixed everything, does that mean you won’t have to do it all again in 6 months?

Ah, yeah...that’s about the price my dad caps on used cars as well, so I understand. Time to keep searching!

Really, I want to love them, I really do, but they’re terrible. The enthusiast creed seems to always be pick the least reliable car possible and worship it, denying all possibility that it’s bad.

And those cars will eventually be in junkyards so you can strip parts off them. So in the end - would you be better off with a Subaru Outback? An Evoque? A Ford ... whatever is in that class?

Which explains why the ex and I had a Lancia Beta Scorpion. So much fun ... for one week a year. The rest of the time it would not start. I have learned my lesson.

And one week per year isn’t good enough?

LOL

You may not have lived through this, but the thing was like a poorly-tuned Fiat X19. Bigger (by a bit) with shit brakes and a transmission that w0uld not allow you to select 2nd gear. Ever.
