Remember when I booked a van for moving day and fantasized about what I might get? Well, I got what I wanted. The odd one out. It’s terrible.

They gave me the Iveco, and there’s a reason everybody drives Transits and Sprinters. Numb steering, terrible handling, wind noises, a gearbox from hell, no power, only one small cupholder, after 80k kms the cab still reeks of cheap plastic, I don’t think it has A/C.... All in all it feels like a commercial vehicle from the 90s. Not even the Sixt stickers want to stay on that thing. Driving this 930 kms across the country will be interesting. Expect a full on review some time next week. Spoiler alert: I might not rate it very high.

When my family booked the Superb (and then got a Citroën), it was through Sixt. They're a terrible rental company. My uncle, who booked a Passat and got a brown manual diesel Passat wagon, booked with Avis. I'm using them next time and never using Sixt again.

I drove an Iveco van for two years delivering fish to restaurants, hotels and such.. TERRIBLE van, it was two years old but felt like it was 20 years old. Lazy engine, horrible transmission, rear brakes would lock up before the front brakes if the car was empty. Had to charge the battery every single night if I wanted to be able to start the van the next day..
DO NOT EVER buy an Iveco.

Last time I went with Hertz and was extremely happy. The thing is that I specifically booked a “LWB Sprinter or similar” this one is only medium wheel base, so I am missing out on about 1,50 m of cargo room. It’s not short enough to go back and demand another one, which I would have to wait for if it was even possible, but still...

Was it the robotized manual? These are really terrible indeed...

it was the normal manual. The problem was that it felt like trying to stir dough. I stalled it once because I inadvertendly started in third. Shifting from fith to sixth needed a lot of (will)power.
