Inspired by a Facebook post from Mkolabin.
MG MGA is probably one of the prettiest cars ever made.
Now.. how can you make this car even more awesome?
Perhaps a Wankel engine?

Cool. There was a MGA on Bring-A-Trailer a little while ago that had a Miata 1.8, I can only imagine what the rotary would feel like.

Keep it NA and inline. I’m thinking an older BMW straight-6 or Toyota Celica engine.

4AGE.

Not really sure you ould fit an I6 though, but it would be awesome.

SR20DET!

I’d say the Mx5 engine is more powerfull than the 12a though.

You don’t really need a firewall do you?

I think we have a winner.

Nah, 4AGE blacktop. Decent amount of power, with the amazing induction noise of ITBs.

Awesome.
Is that in Canada? Quebec area?

Kawasaki H2R engine! 300 hp, super light, variable drive supercharger!
![]() 08/21/2015 at 15:41 |

But how would you connect that to the transmission?
![]() 08/21/2015 at 18:44 |

I’m thinking Fiat 1500 Twin Cam or Rover V8.

Not a bad choice, but the more I think about it the more I want a BMW N47D20 (diesel engine) in an MGA. That would be awesome.

I think a Ford Pinto 4 might work very well. Swap in the engine, upgrade the shocks and springs, and switch to discs all around, and you’d have an excellent A.
![]() 08/21/2015 at 18:57 |
|
If I’d go ford I’d go Pinto, well.. I’d go YB series. :)
![]() 08/21/2015 at 19:00 |

YB series would be badass. I’m thinking Lotus or Toyota Twin Cam would be the best choice. Lotus for sheer awesomeness, Toyota because it’s awesome and it works.

I REALLY want a diesel MGA though.. The BMW N47D20 comes to mind, 200hp or so..
Yes. I am repeating myself :P

I’m sort of split on diesel though, it seems so wrong and so right for the car at the same time. It seems like a N47 would be too heavy and too powerful for the A, but on the other hand it worked in the BMW Mini’s which are pretty small.
I can’t decide on one engine, right now I think a L series from a 240z would be a good fit, but that’ll change in 5 minutes.

It’s VERY wrong, that’s why I like it. Some years back a guy in Sweden buillt a Cobra with a cummins diesel. I love things like that.

A Cobra with a Cummins diesel is sooo badass. If you’re looking for something that’s really wrong, maybe a Camry 3 liter V6?

I guess I should buy an MGA first :P As of now I’ll just drive my boring Saab.
