With a ceiling height of 90.2ft (27.5 meters) the massive hangar has a total volume of nearly 24.5 million cubic feet (693,000 cubic meters).

Back in 2014, f86sabre gave my family a tour of the Delta TechOps facility where he works. It was damned impressive, and it was big, but not that big. There’s some serious engineering going on to make that much open space inside.

It was awesome. Here are the pics , if you want to take a look. I don’t remember if I have a password on that album, though.

Ever walk into a massive wide open yet enclosed area and get vertigo? I think that would happen here. I remember being up in upstate NY when younger on a family friend’s property. Walking through deep woods, come to the end of the trail and it opens up to a massive rock quarry. Nothing like the Lufthansa bay but it was still pretty unreal to see.

Fascinating. What a cool place to work that would be. I especially loved the ancient Gateway computers hooked up to the blackbox.

It really was fascinating. It was such a rush to be so close to all those giant aircraft. Just the scale of the place as a whole is impressive.
