A police department in Birmingham has a 996.

Promotional piece? Drug Seizure? Who knows but it doesn’t really matter.

That isn’t how money works. You can’t just throw it at poor people and make them not poor.

Clearly investing it in some sort of social program is a worse idea than a fucking Lamborghini for the Police force.

They did a really poor job on the clear bra. It’s not supposed to be opaque.

does that new high speed limit freeway cut through their town? What is it 90mph freeway?
Just trying to keep up lol

Ugh it should be illegal to put police livery all over a car like that. Go ahead use it as a patrol car, but leave it unmarked. The inside will be covered in powdered sugar and coffee stains before you know it.

Could of been a Nero Nemesis Matte paint job.

On the front bumper only? Maybe they needed a new front bumper and they thought Nero Nemesis sounded cool.

Actually looking at it it looks to be a Gen 1 gallardo with Supperleggera parts on it.

I’m sure they didn’t buy it. My bet would be drug seisure, granted they could sell the car and donate the money to some other cause.

Drug Seizure for sure, but yeah they should sell it and use the money for some social program, donate it to some sort of injured police officers association and so on, there is no point in keeping it.

Your tax dollars at work. Either buying it, or trying to maintain it.

They probably didn’t want to pay to color match the rest of the car. Or they just bought the cheapest replacement nose they could find if the original was damaged. They probably had the same budget as any other cruiser would have in outfitting.

If it was donated, selling it might not be an option. Plus, it’s not the police departments place to support charities and other causes. Government funded entities can’t just go around giving money to whatever they want. The money would have to be rolled back into the government’s funds most likely.
This car will most likely be used for promotional purposes. Take it to car shows, schools, local fair, etc. This get people’s attention and help people have conversations and get to know their local LEOs, and the LEOs to know the people they protect. Help build rapport with the community. Even if it helps just one kid learn not to be scared to go to the police for help or see them as enemies, it’s a win in my book.

Could they technically not donate to their own causes, like to families of fallen officers and the like?
![]() 08/19/2015 at 17:01 |

Maybe. But again, they pretty much are limited to shifting money from one fund to another. Different local governments may have different laws regarding usage of funds. It could be set up that proceeds from sales of confiscated items are only allowed to go into the repair and maintenance budget for cruisers, for example. Just because they own it doesn’t mean they can do anything they want with it. If this car wasn’t donated, they either had to go through a lot of steps to keep it, or there was a reason it couldn’t be sold if I had to guess.

Not actually a police car. Owned by a civilian and being loaned to the PD as a promotional piece for a car show / fundraiser.
