Update on my post from yesterday about pre-date jitters. Here’s a big body Benz in Alubeam silver for your time (side note: one of the greatest OEM colors of all time in my opinion).

Kinja'd!!!

It wasn’t a date.

I think.

I’m still not sure. Either way, I had a good time. We went to a Japanese restaurant and then to KTV. I’m in China and the lady in question is Chinese, so that’s a pretty normal thing to do here. I love KTV (my song of choice is Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You ), so this is my kind of evening.

Since the night ended with us parting ways without gaining an biblical knowledge of each other, I chose to walk the 4 km home in order to exorcise some of my pent up male energies. Picked up some beer on the way and got a little buzzed. Got home, played videos games with my neighbor and then semi-drunkenly made grilled cheese sandwiches with a hot plate.

Overall, could have been a worse evening. Thanks to all the Oppos for their advice and/or humorous offerings.

These things happen. I totally went on a date that wasn’t a date but am glad it wasn’t a date because crackpot ended up back together with her ex a few months later- the same ex that had previously left bruises on her a few times.... ¯\_()_/¯

Sounds like a good night, all in all. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I think I’ve been on more dates that weren’t dates than ones that were considered dates.

Rule of thumb: If you pay for the meal and activities and there is no attempt by the other person to do so then it’s a date. Am I off base?

Doesn't sound like too bad of a night. I have some funny first date stories if you ever have some nerves again. Good times...

I’m from the American South, so while I would be considered very liberal in my views of male and female roles in society, I still believe in opening doors for women and paying on the first date. In this case, she paid for everything, but that is explained by Chinese culture, where you always try to pay for the other person, especially when the other person paid for it last time (as was the case here).

Bad date stories will always be welcome on my posts. Please, share away!

I always try my hardest to pay for the first date, just in my nature too, holding doors and such too. One thing I can’t stand is being expected to pay for everything and then have it not considered a date. I’m not an ATM machine, at least pretend like you intend to go double dutch.

My friend, you’re talking to the right guy. I might understand a little more if I was crazy wealthy, but I’m a broke ass student, and I don’t try to hide that. Oh well, most girls now a days insist on double dutch, so mooching is an an even bigger red flag.
