with full vic reg number , check on vicroads website see if still registered , would have to been converted as it has vic rego at some point.

clearly private import , probably converted by Mustang Motorsport or Crossover Conversions or some other conversion shop/importer.

Pretty sure it is, unless they just stuck the bodykit on it.

I looked it up on Vicroads and nothing’s come up, although the Proton next to it does.

It’s clearly an early-80s Mustang. They came in a few flavors; T-tops, hatchback, trunk, and convertible throughout the model years. Since my google image search is failing the first shows a trunk, and the second the hatchback.

V8s would have 5-bolt wheels, 6s and 4s had 4-bolt, IIRC.

The Ghia probably would have been a package with leather trim and alloy wheels (my hunch.)

V8s had 4bolt wheels too. That second pic is an 82 5.0 GT with the dreaded TRX wheels.

The Ghia trim originally appeared on the Mustang II in an attempt to make it more 70s. They also offered a Ghia trim for the first few years of the Fox Body, but I don’t know if it was popular at all.

Ghia was 1979-81 only. Its not a desirable package like the Cobra so it is an odd find.

If it’s a 79 it could have had the 5.0 if it’s an 80-81 the only V8 would be the 4.2 smogger. It could have had any other engine as well, 2.3, 2.3 Turbo, 2.8 and/or the 200ci straight six.

Which begs the question, why did someone bother to import and comply one of them and leave it sitting in a driveway in suburban Melbourne?
