Driving isn't difficult if you follow the rules of the road and are courteous towards other motorists.

Difficult, yes, but not impossible.

One thing I absolutely can’t stand is when someone can’t have the slightest bit of courtesy. I don’t think anything pisses me off more while out on the road.

Another is those people who know they have to merge into the other lane but choose to fly up and change lanes at the last minute. I refuse to let someone in front of me when they do that shit.

If you could tell the crossover-driving moms of SoCal this, that’d be fantastic.

When I had a BMW I went out of my way to be OBNOXIOUSLY courteous, just to fight the stereotype/piss people off. You bet your ass I slowed down to let every car into my lane, and my turn signal was on for a good 300 ft before I actually changed lanes.

Yeah, fuck those people trying to reduce traffic .

My point is, what makes you more entitled to jump to the front of a line when others have been waiting longer than you have. Sure it saves you time but it creates more time for the people you just cut off, thus making it a selfish act.

But it ultimately reduces the amount of time people behind those already in line would have to wait. And if people left sufficient space and didn’t have to slam their brakes when someone pulled in in front, it wouldn’t cause any perceptible loss of time.

If you look at it as what’s best for traffic in general, and not just what’s best for -you-, it’s the ideal method.

Idk, call me overly courteous (I’m Canadian, eh?) but I still think drivers shouldn’t wait until the last minute to switch lanes. The only time that I think it’s acceptable is using the entire merge lane for on-ramps and the like.

Side note - I live in Ontario which is essentially the Canadian equivalent of California so many drivers simply use this method because they feel that they’re more important than you.

Consider this: If everyone used the closing lane until it closed, it wouldn’t be empty and thus no personal advantage would be gained by someone using it instead of the open lane.

Around here there used to be an exit from one interstate to another. It was terribly designed and would back up quite a bit...so the “important” people would drive around the backup and try to cut everyone off at the front. Very rarely the cops would sit there and ticket all of them and I could have a smug and happy morning.

That’s awesome! I love when some people get instant karma for actions like that.

But driving becomes a chore when everyone else won’t do the same

Good opinion though, I couldn’t agree more
