At the cottage we occasionally get float planes to land in the bay (someone has a son with a 172) but this weekend a new one landed for a touch and go and to say hi to one of my neighbours. I’ve seen this kind of plane before but have no idea what kind it actually is. Anyone identify it? I’m also curious what advantages the elevated engine has.

A Lake Buccaneer . The elevated engine flying boat will have less drag than a single engine seaplane with pontoons.
