True Tales from Vault 78

I’m playing Fallout Shelter and it feels like everything I do creates the sort of awesome, organic vault story you’d see in one of the main games. I’m sure I’m not the only one playing it at the moment, so I’m sharing. Nuclear powered car for your time.

Vault 78 came perilously close to complete extinction.
Things were going well so I decided to encourage breeding to grow the vault’s numbers. I pushed them too hard. We started to suffer a lack of resources, which lead to me rushing some tasks that shouldn’t have been rushed. This lead to catastrophe after catastrophe until there was no one left to protect against the onslaught fires and radroaches. Every adult dweller perished, except for one who was out roaming the wasteland.

When that sole survivor returned he found a vault full of orphans. The children could not fight the problems that plagued the vault. While their parents were eradicated, they had no choice but to hide until things subsided on their own time. They’d been living on dwindling resources ever since.

The children are grown now, the vault is recovering. While I learn from my mistakes, I reflect on the irony that while over-breeding got us into the hole we were in, it also provided the new generation that carried us out again.

It is :D My vaults keep having horrible things happen. I got my vault in a really bad state, where I had lots of rooms I didn’t want to demolish but my people were mostly gone. It took me ages of struggling to get resources before I realized the rooms had to go.

Amazing!

I don’t want to see any more of these. I’ve been playing the Android version solidly since release, and I’ve gotten pretty much nowhere due to trying to expand too fast. You’re giving me vault-envy.

Vault 920 checking in. All is well, no one’s died much yet. Just sent out 5 dwellers to savage over night.

But check this shit out, got a lunch box for completing a task and got this fucker.
