Something in the back of my head screams 928.

I remember that article in R&T.

The one on the left was built on a 928. Custom panels to create the ultimate sleeper.

The one on the left is 30cm wider. And has RWD.

Yep! 2 were built.

Artz, the ‘Manufacturer’, made two of these. Both still exist. I think a recent Octane Magazine covered it with recent pictures of one of two.

Artz Golf 928. Indeed. Underpinnings/drivetrain from a 928. Even the dashboard/interior!

I remember hearing of this long ago ... people should do chimera cars like these again.

Someone needs to put together the current Beetle (which I don’t like) and 911 underpinnings, preferably GT2.

These are from 2007 - no idea where it is now.

There have been many others. Guess what’s underneath this Punto. Yes: the wheels give it away instantly...

Kinja'd!!!

The current Beetle is already a “special” Golf, whether you like it or not (same here). We should get a Golf with shortened Panamera underpinnings ;-)

Just 15 cm extra. On both sides of the VW-roundel. ;-)

He also built the Cordette along the same recipe. I wrote an article on Günther Artz and his cars once but it is now lost in pre-kinja world.

Awesome! Did he do the Cordette in his post-Nordstadt period?

After VW Nordstadt, he led an Opel dealership just down the street.

No wonder he did that Cordette... Thanks for the update!

And you should definitely do that Artz-piece on Oppo again...

That picture is always hilarious. I love that they did that. They should have put a third seat in the middle to complete the effect. It would be neat to do the same thing with a Pacer body on a 928. It’s probably wide enough already.

The guy even did a Cordette, a Corvette with an Opel Kadett-body, see Klaus Schmoll’s reply.

As a former-owner of a 928S I approve of this one a lot. The interior (even the dashboard) is from the 928 as well hahaha!

Amazing. And that’s a Corvette interior in the Opel. Completely insane, but I love it. I’d really like to see his article about Artz.

First thing that immediately sprung to mind:

Kinja'd!!!

Yes, that widebody is actually a Saab 99 chassis under a stretched Saab 96 skin...this is apparently how Sweden does vehicular camouflage, at least how they did it in the 1960s...

Kinja'd!!!

Known colloquially as the “Paddan”, or “Toad”...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saab_Toad A very interesting read this, especially the part where they badged a different prototype a Daihatsu later on...I mean, did they actually think people were fooled?

Capo-di-tutti-capi, whatever. Oh no: you didn’t speak Italian. I see you’ve asked him. I can’t find my request? I’ll just ask him again.
