I don’t know the law, but isn’t that illegal?

Call the actual cops and report this guy. I know around where I live, there have been a couple of instances of people putting light bars on their cars and stopping people so they could rob them. The real cops were pretty furious and went on a small media blitz trying to get people to report the fakes if they saw them and reiterating what real patrol cruisers looked like.

I think as long as the light bar doesn’t work (or aren’t police colors, and he has a permit for whatever they are for)... It might be OK.
The cattle bar is legal on its own, and there are no markings to impersonate a cop.

I figured that the front bar was legal, I just didn’t know about the lights. Thanks.

The are incidents across the country where some people pose as cops and pull people over to either rob them at gunpoint or rape them. This person is probably, at best, using his addons to be able to drive in traffic like a dick or park illegally.

The front facing blue tinted lights on the bull bar are almost certainly illegal in your state (as they are in mine) is this is actually illegal (along with the license plate issues, I suppose). Top bar is probably 100% ok if it’s orange/green but if it’s blue/red than it is questionable.
This is why those of us who would buy a ex-police as sold by PD, perhaps with bull bar perhaps without, can’t have nice things and not have cops on your ass. :\

I did know that one. Doesn’t stop people though.

Bull bar has blue tinted lights that are forward facing, so the bar is almost moot as that law is already broken.

Kind of relevant: some marked cop cars here in Memphis have stock alloy wheels.

Did you get a picture of the plate?
Unless you see them actually doing something illegal, he’s in the clear. There’s nothing particularly illegal about the car, and for all anyone knows, it could be a guy who does private security and privately owns the vehicle.
I have the 5 spoke cop wheels but no pushbar. My rear windows are factory smoked glass while the front windows were never touched.
The number on the front of the fender though....I’m not sure. It’s not stickered up as an official vehicle, so unless he goes to pull someone over, there’s nothing illegal about him just having the car. Other people just moving over in traffic is just them moving over in traffic, it’s not an issue unless he’s flashing lights at them purposely.

I hardly think “Bull” bars or push bars are illegal in any state. Now using or having functioning blue lights on your car is another story, definitely illegal. Also, tinted license plate covers are probably illegal in every state.

I didn’t say anything about the bull bar being illegal.

I will, but I don’t plan on doing too much digging, It would appear it’s a dude who thinks the car looks cool (and knows it helps him get through traffic) and knows just how close he can make it to a cop car without breaking laws.

Yeah he is certainly pushing his luck. One day though, a smokey is going to catch him and rip him a new one.

This car is clearly violation laws against pretending to be an officer.

Right. The problem lies in what you, and more importantly the law, count as “pretending”.

I would consider that pretending. Here in CA (at least I have been told) that having blue and red strobe lights on your car is illegal and could be considered impersonation. You are allowed to have yellow for emergency or “off road” use.

Actually a siren/speaker, not a light.

Hmm, yeah that’s though. I’d would just call the non emergency line and inform the police of a possible impersonator. That’s way too much to not be something. Especially the stickers. My friend has a P71 and he is very careful about what he adds to his vehicle. Of course he has friends who are cops to make sure he is still legal.

I’m late on this but:
A. It’s some wannabe that couldn’t pass the psych exam and now works as a mall security guard, but thinks he’s something more than that.
B. After noticing it wasn’t a real cop, I’d have blown by him and given him tha finger.
