Funny thing is, it isn’t straight-forward as to what I won. The numbers matched, and it claims if they do I won a prize.
I’m pretty sure this is similar to what Fowlerville Ford pulled awhile ago. They gave out keys saying if it fit a certain lock, you’re a winner....but there was no winner. They even got in trouble with the government. So I wonder what’s gonna happen with this dealership....hmmm. I’m curious to call them up and play 50 questions with them.

My parents got one of these in the mail from a Hyundai dealer a few years back. They won a pair of earrings if I remember correctly. Dad had no interest in owning a Hyundai but he inquired about a few of the cars while he was there, said the salesman was easy going.

I get these all the time. It’s a gimmick to get you in the door. Idk if anyone actually wins the cars (though IIRC it’s illegal to not have a winner).
When I took it in once they like spun a wheel for my prize or something like that and I got a scratch off ticket. Actually won 10 bucks on the scratcher, so yay?

We get them a lot by me. Very mixed results. One dealer we actually won $250 in Visa gift cards. All we did was test drive a car we were considering buying at the time.
The other time we went got nothing and barely made it out of that dealership because they were so pushy and demanding

Yeah, I’m very curious as to ‘what will happen’ if I do show up.

I get these too. I often contemplate asking trade in value on my beater Metro. I usually forget or don't have time for shenanigans.

$10 free dollars? That's a whole quarter tank of gas, sign me up!

That bad. I guess you can say, I'm curious as to how pushy the dealership is. I've never had that happen to me, so I'm curious about first hand experience....

Yeah, different dealer. Anything could happen.

Everyone wins the prize*
.
.
.
.
.
*provided they show up and pick the winning ticket from 200k wrong tickets from a bucket where the winning ticket is taped to the bottom**
.
.
.
.
.
**taped to the bottom of the dealership owners bottom desk drawer that’s under lock and key.

It’s just a very expensive marketing tool. You won SOMETHING. It could be a car, or a balloon with the dealership’s name on it. If you’re bored, maybe stop in. But I wouldn’t go out of your way to do it.

Once I won a prize of “up to $500.” It was a $2 bill.

Worst case scenario; they make you drive a Sonic.

I “won” one of these from a Honda dealer.
“TRADE IN YOUR 2011 BMW 328xi for a new 2015 CIVIC!!! UPGRADE TODAY!!!”
A) not an upgrade
B) don’t even own that car anymore
It then said that I won, as the codes matched, but then I just presumed that everyone won, and that it was a way to get people into the showroom.

We get these one a week, the number always matches. Read the fine print and you’ll notice they have odds of winning the cheapest prize as 99997:100000. Still it’s usually 20 bucks or so. Never go in if it’s the vacation package...It’s basically a worthless coupon from a 3rd party.
Sidenote: I love these. “Hey sir what cab I help you find today?”
“My prize”
“okay is there any car you may want to look at while I’m getting that ready for you?”
(Being an ass) “I am looking for a new car, a jaguar x type wagon with a manual”
“Oh I see, well I will look but I don’t think we have one...”
Leaves with prize and a free lesson taught to a salesman what a unicorn is.

Best case scenario, I see how fast a sonic can go, :).

It is a way to get you in the showroom. You should of asked them if the civic can match the bmw in terms of horsepower, see how deep a hole they will dig, :).

What I'm hearing is that I need a crew to go oceans 13 on the dealership, to get the proper ticket, then use sleight of hand to produce said ticket to win the grand prize. Or did I misunderstand?

Give me a time and date and I’ll join in. I’m sure we can get a few other Oppos to help out.

What do you have against the Sonic?

Its visibility, for one, but I was also blessed with the opportunity to rent and drive one while attending a wedding in Branson, Missouri. It slowed to 20 under the speed limit on every hill, and there wasn’t a ratio in its transmission that would let it keep highway speed.

Well base model rentals have never been great cars no matter what you’re in.

I’ll bet you won the lotto tickets, 2 - $1 scratchers...If you look around you can find some dealers who will give you a $25 gas or gift card for a test drive.

I called them number, after my 3rd try I got though. It redirected me to the dealership, which was stupid because why would you have that number to begin with if it meant nothing.
![]() 08/18/2015 at 10:09 |

Are you going to check it out in person? I bet you will spend more in gas then your free gift.

Actually with the prix, it wouldn't be too much. With the pt it would be nearly a quarter tank of gas, *grumble*. But the family is currently on money lockdown mode, so I won't be able to make it out there, which is a shame. I am curious as to what I won.
