One of the fun aspects about going back to school, especially at one of your “Hollywood High” type schools, is that you never know what new cars will turn up as a new group of sophomores start getting their wheels. So far the one that has me the most amused is this student-owned yellow H2. I have no idea who owns it, other than it’ someone on the...wait for it...football team, but judging buy the dealer plates and in-transits, someone’s parent actually bought this for their child. It’s not even close to being the most expensive car at the school (they’re only around $25k or less), but it’s certainly the most, erm, noticeable. I actually kind of don’t get it. 10 years ago, this would make you the coolest kid in school. Now, in 2015, I think even most high schoolers will thing it’s a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! y. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

The H2 is possibly one of the worst/best cars for a new driver.

It feels like it’s about 1.5 lanes wide when you’re driving it. You’re constantly worried you’re going to side-swipe literally all of the traffic around you.

Best car for a teenager is a subaru wrx non-turbo, decent mph, fun to drive and still practical

That’s why I drive a 2000 mercury mountaineer.

Sophomores are already driving? Unless the age to get a license in NE is 15 or 15.5.

It’s 16, and most sophomores are 15 turning 16.

hahah it’s funny how car landscapes change around the country.

At my school, in Redmond, WA, my GLI makes me pretty popular with the car people.

The most popular car people at my school have muscle cars for the most part. funny thing is, they’re mostly V6 muscle cars, with a majority being auto as well...

There is one complete fucktard of a douchebag who had an evo, totaled it, and now drives an E92 M3 with mexipoking wheels, and a glittery illest banner. I feel bad for that bimmer....

Even though some of them aren’t even a month younger than me, it’s weird to think that they’re gonna start driving very soon.

I have a late birthday, which means I'm the youngest in my grade and won't be getting my license until about a month into my senior year (have to be 17 in my state).

I'm surprised as anyone that people still drive those. Better yet shocked that they're becoming collectors items practically. I met a gentlemen a while ago who had one of these tucked into his garage. Said he was saving it until it rose in value some more. Shit you not.

As a parent, you're wrong, and your kids will probably end up with something lame.

They’ll end up with something less stupid... that they bought with their own money so they learn the value of a buck.

Well maybe they'll buy an H2 with their own money because H2s are awesome.

They are stupid. That’s what makes them awesome. They’re the Commando (movie) of cars.

The H2 is more Tropic Thunder than Commando...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt094238…

And being stupid doesn’t make them awesome. It just makes it stupid. Awesome is is a vehicle that is reliable, durable and is actually good to drive. And terrible fuel economy (given I’m in Canada and pay a lot more for fuel) is a factor as well.

Yes... it’s an acknowledgement that many people like stupid things and comedy. The H2 is comedy on wheels. And by extension, the joke is also on the buyers/owners of the H2.

Exactly! That’s what I love about it. It’s hilarious. I also think it is the perfect automotive representative of post-9/11/pre-recession America.

It’s the perfect automotive representative of what causes oil dependence that provided the funds for 9-11 attack in the first place.

Only an idiot would love that.
