Yeah, working on apples makes me feel like I’m getting my face ripped off in a wind tunnel too. Which is why I don’t anymore.

But then only the last 10% of the drive would be fast.
Full of the sound of the Gran Fury, signifying nothing.

I can’t wait to do this upgrade to my MBP. It’s just the pesky ‘lack of funds’ problem that comes with joblessness that is getting in the way. Perhaps I can trade away some Lego to a friend in exchange for his soon to be orphaned SSD...

It’d very much like getting an extended cab truck for the first time - after a while, you swear you’ll never go back (if you can help it.)

How much money do you spend doing that? I NEED to change my mac book but theres no pennies, also, just like a non car guy doesnt know shit about a car, i dont know shit about a computer, so how difficult would be for me to do it myself? Ive seen tutorials on youtube and looks like things that i can handle but still...

You can get a 500GB SSD on amazon for under 200, and that will noticable speed up your computer.

Never experienced the SSD before? I have a striped pair as the main drive in my PCs. Aside from price, I don't get HDD sales still being so high.

My laptop has an SSD. It was just a major difference.

You made sure to enable TRIM since it’s a third party SSD, right?

Because the price/GB is still unbeatable if you require storage. I have a 256GB 840 Pro for my desktops boot drive, but I also have 2x2TB WD Blacks in RAID-0 as my “storage” drive.
Getting that much storage from two SSDs would have cost me over 1,600 dollars.

True, but few computers come with huge hard drives. I have a mirrored pair of HDDs in my personal desktop for storage, but they are really only used for long term backup of data. They are spun down over 99.9% of the time.

I have about 500GB of games installed onto that RAID, along with my backup OneDrive folder where all of my images, Inventor files, documents, etc are backed up, so I don’t have to worry if my RAID dies.
