Today is a very special day, Oppo. It’s been a good few months of happy drinking, but it all ends today. That’s right, now begins a few months of sad, dirty, depressing drinking. Because today is the first day of the Chargers season. Long months of underachieving, soul crushing losses, and the specter of inevitable relocation. Boonies, fo’ties, and rotgut tequila tonight for the kid. How about you?

Vodka neat.
I also wouldn’t classify Cuervo as “rotgut” tequila. It's not great, sure, but I've had way, way, WAY worse.

This is made by the people who run Truro Vinyards on the cape. Definitely worth seeking out. Their Amber rum is great, too.
If you manage to get a bottle of the spiced rum, I strongly suggest trying it on the rocks with a tiny amount of fresh lime. It really brings it alive.

It’s hard to appreciate a cheap whiskey, (most of them are pretty comparable to gasoline) and it’s hard to shell out for something you don’t like. I find that Canadian Rye whiskeys are easier to drink, and then you can move on into bourbons or scotch or irish once you’ve got the appreciation down. Crown Royal or Alberta Premium are good ones to start with, being big selling and not too expensive. But there’s a definite improvement in quality as the price point goes up.

A glass of tomatin 12 year on the rocks. 30$ for an easy drinking highland single malt with some nice notes of fruit and toffee and a little bit of a peanut/cashew at the finish. Not always 100% consistent though from bottle to bottle but it’s always good and again, 30$ a bottle. Jack daniels is almost as expensive as this and it is maybe a quarter as good when drunk neat or on the rocks.

Long story short, my utter douchebag of a roommate called the cops on me for ‘allegedly’ smoking weed in our apartment. They searched my apartment and found my ‘alleged’ moonshine still and arrested me on some sort of felony tax evasion. Basically, owning a still is a felony. I was bailed out the next day and they never even filed the charges. That was the first time, but you have to buy me a drink to hear any of the other stories.

Oh man. That’s so wack. I had a crazy roommate. I slept with a knife under my pillow because I seriously thought he might try to kill me in my sleep. He never called the cops on me though.
So I’ve never been a drugs guy, but I went to college in Miami, so most of my friends were. We were drinking heavily one night when a couple dudes decided to do some kind of crazy ecstasy type stuff. Well one of my buddies had a bad reaction. So he gets naked. We’re all super drunk, but this dude is freaking out, and it’s obvious something’s wrong. So we try to keep him in the room. He jumps out a 2nd story window, and he’s gone. So now the 3 of us who aren’t on drugs are tasked with hunting this dude. I get a call. My buddy found him. The chase was on. This dude pushed a girl down the stairs, ran through a fountain, climbed a Palm tree, all while naked. Then, he jumps on top of a moving police car and procreeds to urinate. Then he got tazed. Now he’s a registered sex offender. College!
