Yeah you don’t get to see the rest of the dust caked engine...or car, for that matter. Not til’ I’m done. Anyway there it is

Kinja'd!!!

Here we see an ugly turbo manifold sourced from a Lancer Evo 3, as is the O2 Sensor housing/ that 90 degree section after the turbo but before the downpipe. Both pieces flow significantly more than stock and have been further hand ported. The manifold helps with spool and the sensor housing with backpressure. I can not wait until both are shrouded by a protective blanket or wrapping.

Yes that is a relatively large compressor about to go into kinda small intercooler piping that, at least has a short trip to the throttle body. I’m rather tickled to see how this is going to shake out.

The tubing and larger sidemount intercooler are relics from a DSM tuner company called Dejon, and have worked fine so far. I have little desire to drop $500 on a bigass braggadocious font mount intercooler. That money goes to tires. Gah, I need to repaint or gold wrap those tubes.

Also they will get help from a heaping dose of methanol.

“Never”....?

The real McCoy... with a really shitty job painting the door jams because I demanded the Vocational school kids who painted it to hurry the f*ck up because they had wasted 5 months doing nothing. I’m still kinda mad 6 years later

This picture showcases my current speedbump with this project: Is that bolt, between the oil feed fitting and the center cartridge a pre- installed oil restrictor??

If so, dammit. I had spent waaay too long figuring out what proper size restrictor I needed and getting one machined to make sure this turbo won’t blow out its ball bearings and start smoking.

The problem is #1 I bought the barely used yet still old thing off the forums #2 like three different companies conjured up this hybrid turbo with varying levels of quality, some with pre installed restrictors, some without. Some ball bearing, some not. I’m like, 80% sure I have one of the good ones.

Kartboy urethane shifter bushings and Goodidge braided clutch line sitting on the already dingy rebuilt transmission. Looks like I should’ve used a few more coats of silver paint? The braided line and bushings genuinely help. Throws felt less hesitant/ rubbery, clutch felt...easier?

This thing really makes the magic happen: a boost referencing fuel pressure regulator. The previous owner had problems tuning the car with fuel cut-outs (the engine stumbles BIG at WOT) because he had the loud ass Walboro 255 fuel pump, but with a stock regulator just not flowing enough to the rail. The injectors were also maxed out so I purchased larger flow matched denso 660’s. Zero problems flooring it to redline/ entertaining myself after that.

So this whole thing might blow up in my face but I’ve always been sortof at peace with that. I mean its an Eclipse. The people who take these cars too seriously and spend tons on parts usually end up on the forums bitter and selling it all. The ones who don’t just end up with dedicated tack cars. Very few rise from the skanky DSM to reach that creamy nougat middle.

Next time I complete the turbo plumbing, replace the dry rotted tires and just maybe get it on the road after that!

Kinja'd!!!

You should never use teflon tape on an AN fitting like this. It is for NPT threads.

Gah I freaking knew it THAT was a shade tree mechanic’s doing and kinda always bothered me when I look at it. Got what I payed for I guess, really liked the use of non-AN wenches on the bolts too...not that I’m real concerned with asthetics on this poject but still.

So I can read what it says, but I don’t really understand it. What kind of an LSD warrants this sticker exactly, and what happens if one were to rotate a raised wheel?

The same thing that happens when someone “pops” a torque converter, heat, pressure, broken stuff.
