Kinja'd!!!

I am in the market for a new car, I am thinking leasing might be the best way to go about it.

At first I was going to buy something in the 10-12k range but after looking for months and only stumbling on boring or excting/high mileage cars in that price range, I cannot find anything that is, Reliable, exciting and in my price range in my area. My dad and uncle who both have leased many cars over the years kept telling me to check out leasing a car instead of buying it so I did and I have to say I am thinking more and more about going that route.

What I have researched about leasing is that the major downfall is having to cap your mileage each year And you don’t ever actually own the car. Personally the whole owning the car thing isn’t a big deal to me because in another 3 years hopefully I will be getting paid more and be able to actually get something more luxurious and exciting.

Right now Mazda is running a lease deal with 2k down your payments are only 200 a month at around 12k miles a year. I would have to add a couple thousand miles to the lease I think to be safe but overall it seems like a good deal.

Do any of you have any advice, experience, advantages, disadvantages for leasing?

EDIT: I also checked the leases for an Accord and a Legacy but the Mazda seems to have the most equipment standard and it looks the best.

I’m not sure how successful you can be adding mileage to your lease, but it’s worth a shot.

You can buy more up front for .10ish a mile. If you go over your mileage its .15-.20+ per mile, so if you know your gonna go over its better to buy them up front.

There should be an option for 15k mile lease at a slightly higher price per month.

I’m not too savvy in the leasing area though so I won’t say anything else.

Whatever you do, do not put that $2000 down. If you total your car, you will never see that money. Do zero down with first payment and tag due at signing, that’s it.

I forget what I added but I have 15k per year on my CX-5. I think it added only a few bucks to the monthly.

Thats what I was thinking, 10k isn’t enough I could probably get by with 12k but thats with watching it real close so I think around 15k would be perfect.

owning a base model is better than leasing a nicer car trust me on this. with that said my fost was 16,500. im seeing many other newer ms3 for around there. if you don’t mind going a bit older first gen ms3 and ms6 are plentiful in the 7-12 range but be sure to save some money up for maintenance on an older turbo car. realistically tho I cant recommend a cpo 2012 3 or focus enough. they are both great cars. whatever you do don’t buy a used german car

So compact is too small, and mid-sized is too small? Now you’re looking for a full sized exciting car with like-new reliability for $12k. Good luck. There’s an inverse relationship between size and fun. There’s also a relationship between size and money.

I wouldn’t say a mazda 3 or a focus is a mid-sized car. And that’s why I am thinking about leasing so i can get a good sized car with new reliability.

Why do you even want a big car? The bigger, the worse it is to drive. Fundamentally. I guess if you have kids and you buy cars solely to haul their soccer gear then yeah, a bigger car can help.

I think it's a great idea, I sell Mazdas but I leased a 2015 mazda3 and the 6 actually leases better. If you have any specific questions how it works I can answer them for you, but most of us salespeople lease our cars.

Good to know! What I saw is that this deal is only for the Isport model, how much extra is it to bump up to the touring model?

Not sure exactly but the residual is 59% at 36 months and the money factor is .0004

This maybe kind of a dumb question but do they let you tint the windows? It isn’t a deal breaker for me but I do kinda like having tinted windows.

You can do anything to the car as long as you return it to stock at the end.

Harder to find, but a random thought - Ford Fusion Sport.

AWD, 3.5L V6.

All kinds of fun used if you can find one.
