Hi folks -
[Unrelated Rant]
Right. So I’m taking the train in to work the next couple of weeks. Waiting at the Mt View station, I see this bike just siting there.
For the uninitiated, that’s a Google bike; one of many that they bought so that their employees can get around campus, easily. Someone just left it there. Now, this won’t break Google, but this is just shitty. I cannot imagine the level of spoiled self importance that led to this. Never in my life would I consider taking something my employer bought for my convenience, and just leaving it to be stolen. Some of these folks make Veruca Salt look like Mother Theresa, in comparison.
In conclusion, get offa my lawn and turn down that music! It’s too loud and I can’t understand the words!

Wait, are you being sarcastic?
Google bikes are meant to be left anywhere. Because apparently the neighborhood is so nice, people won’t steal it.

Well...Mt View is nice...

...You should know, you live near there. They don’t get stolen by the people that belong there. Only time they get stolen is when some idiots drive up near the Google campus just to steal bikes.

Shouldn’t Google put locks on them? You are also kinda assuming it isn’t already stolen.

Leaving a bike sitting around like that is one thing, but riding with the saddle that low is a
crime to your knees.

Yes, that’s true. However, my assumption that it’s not already stolen is based on: 1) Stolen Google bikes wind up at the SJ Flea Market, and 2) I don’t think bike thieves would use the kickstand...

I thought that, too...I see folks riding around (whether or not on Google bikes) and want to say: That will feel a whole lot better if you raise your seat a few inches (or 8 to 10, in this case)

I personally wonder if this may be the chief reason that people say they “don’t like biking”... But who knows
