I have not been following this story at all. In fact, this is the first headline I’ve ever clicked on the matter.
If this simulation is accurate, I’m afraid I don’t have much sympathy to offer the WM truck driver. He appears to have reacted far too late.

It was all the fault of the Leprino Foods truck in the right lane. He was telling Wal-Martian jokes on the CB and distracted the driver.

Apparently he was driving for 14 hours in the truck, and hadn't slept in 28 hours. Hard to have sympathy...

Maybe truck drivers should be paid by the hour, not by the mile, have disc brakes and synchromesh (or better yet, and automatic transmission), and be limited to 48 hours per week. It already works in many places.
