When I hear myself talk, my voice seems to have a rich, Clark Gable quality to it. Then when I hear myself on audio, I realize it’s more of a nasally Lucille Ball.

Yep, it’s a pretty universal human experience. Really good mics in rooms with sound paneling REALLY helps though.
I’ve just started doing a little professional voice work on the side. It’s a lot harder than it seems!

EXACTLY.

I can’t stand listening to recordings of myself.

Could be worse. I’m often told I have a great voice and the perfect face for Radio..

Holy shit, me too - and I think my Alan Arkin and Christopher Walken are pretty good, then hear it played back ... oh well. But Peter Falk I got down.

Yeah that's true.

I know that feel. I can neither recognize nor understand my recorded voice. I sound dumb as fuck as well.

Saaaame, my voice is nowhere near nasally but it sounds that way whenever it’s recorded.

Oh I’m worse. I’m almost to Ethel.
I cannot stand hearing my voice recorded.

Haha thanks, it’s good to know there are others.

If it makes you feel any better, how your voice sounds recorded is closer to how other people hear you.
Wait, shit that won’t make you feel better at all.

Me too. I hate hearing my voice played back, so I do tons of voices and impersonations and sound effects. I also realized I want to be a voice actor for cartoons and such.

If you’re talking about that pheaon video, you sound exactly how I expected you to!

Well, that’s a good thing...right?

I apparently have a pretty noticable accent when recorded. I can’t tell normally, so I blame foreign made recording equipment.

Yeah! Nobody likes the sound of their voice because they’re not used to it. In my head I have a low voice but I actually have a high voice and I hate it. Stuff that sounds good in a low voice just dosen’t traslate well to a high voice. Also because of my voice and the fact I dress somewhat fashionable people automatically assume I’m gay and are amazed when I tell them I like boobies.

I’ve been told that I can do spot on impersonations of both Forrest Gump and Johnny Cash, but it’s hard for me to tell. Plus I have the occasional stutter, but that’s minor and usually when I get confused or frustrated. I never could stand my voice recorded either.

I just turn up the bass if I have to listen to myself.

Hearing myself recorded made me realize I fit pretty much every effeminate gay stereotype ever.
