Kinja'd!!!

I like the Honda HR-V.

I mean, just look at its happy face! It’s so excited! How could anyone not love it?

I’ll stop now...

Edit: I guess I didn't mention that I'm technically a Millenial. So there.

I kinda want my gf to get an HR-V when the lease on her Civic runs out. She’s also drawn to its more expensive, less-reliable Italian competitor:

HR-V is more practical and cheaper. Also, I’m not a big fan of the styling (the design language works on their other cars but not the CX-3 and the floating D-pillar bothers me). Interior also isn’t as nice as the Honda’s IMO.

They are sold out of them at the the three Honda dealers by my house @_@

It is (fortunately) selling quite well. My local Honda dealer only has one in stock according to their site.

Just another example of model bloat requiring new models to come in to the lineup. The Corolla is as big as the old Camry, so they brought in the Yaris.

The Accord is huge, the Civic is as big as the old Accord, so they had to bring in the Fit.

The new 5 series is bigger than the old 7 series, trickle down and you get the new 1 series.

This is just another iteration of that.

Your comment was a small bit of positivity about the HR-V, so I'll take it.

Won't disagree. The HR-V is really just Homda trying to fill a (surprisingly popular now) niche. But I like it.

I actually would prefer she get the HR-V over the 500X. Cheaper, more reliable, probably less to insure, better fuel mileage. The only downsides are the twist-beam (not independent) rear suspension it inherits from the Fit, and the infuriating capacitive buttons when we live in Wisconsin and wear gloves in the winter time. But it seems like several other cars in this segment also have twist beam rear suspensions.

If it helps, the base model doesn't have capacitive buttons.

Just my opinion. Also, the HR-V comes with a neat lever between the seats and an extra pedal.

It would if you could get a sunroof and heated leather seats on the base model. ;)

I'm generally indifferent to crossovers, but the HR-V is, in my opinion, one of the better ones.

I kind of like it too. Though the cheap looking headlamps kind of kill it for me. The other issues I have with it are called the CX-3 and Renegade. Surprisingly, the HR-V placed 4th in a class comparison in the latest Car & Driver.

5th actually, which really disappointed me. I like the Renegade and, to a lesser extent, the CX-3 as well. I do kind of wish xenons or at least projector beams were available.

I don’t get it. I think I have a mental blocker when it comes to these new SUVs. Something about this co-existing with the CRV and any number of near-identical vehicles just makes my eyes glaze over for all of them.

Back in the 90s...Instead of 6 SUVs Toyota had 6 sports coupes. Those days are gone.

All of that about model bloat is very true. It took three decades for the Accord to grow from compact to full size. When the Altima was a compact in the ‘90s, it wasn’t nearly as popular the Maxima; today, mid-sized Altimas are everywhere, but spotting a late-model Maxima is like a dolphin sighting (at least where I’m from, where there aren’t any dolphins). Take a look at a first-gen, 3-door RAV4, then compare it to a 2015 model. Kinda nuts.

The CUV (or however marketers label small wagons with a smidge of extra ground clearance and some form of AWD) is where everyone’s going, like it or lump it. Honda is jumping into a newly-crowded segment that only a few years back was exclusive to the Impreza Outback Sport and ... the AMC Eagle?

I think Honda could have done a lot worse than the HR-V. It’s a handsome little vehicle.

I understand. As much as I like the idea of sports cars, I'm fairly tall, so I mainly fit in SUVs. I guess that makes me like them more than other Jalops and Opponauts (Jalopponauts?).
