At the silver dome in Pontiac MI. I’m guessing this will be where Dodge will introduce the Hellcat crate motor, since their website says they’ll be giving one away tomorrow night.

Hellcat Crate Motor?

Is this going to be a permanent fixture? It’d be nice to have a strip that isn’t all the way out in Milan...

Sounds like the Dodge Dart HellKitten will be coming soon!

Why do I want to buy an old Duster all of a sudden? Hmmm.....

Its not Friday yet?

One can hope. Maybe it’ll seed an idea for someone.

but the end of the month has already been...

You could pay for it, or just wait until next month.

Jealous that I have friends going to be in it. My car is slow and I don't drag race.

read it and weep.
Update! We’ve had a LOT going on. Apologies for not posting in a few days. Here’s the news. Scroll down, it’s a lot:
- The next Roadkill episode goes live on YouTube on September 4. Yup, no new show for either July or August. That’s because of all the other stuff we’re about to tell you.
- There will ALSO be a second new episode of Roadkill posted to MotorTrendOnDemand.com on September 4. You have to pay a subscription to see that show in September, BUT it will be free on YouTube a month later. Into the future, fans who wish to support Roadkill with a subscription to MotorTrendOnDemand.com will get 30-day early access to all episodes before they go to YouTube.

Because you haven’t seen the pricing on the crate motor yet!
I’m going to go with 15k

Oh. Yeah. That. I’ve been watching them go back and forth on Facebook video with Gas Monkey so much I didn’t notice they missed a whole month. Shit.

I’d love to see them turn that place into a little motorsports park. Dedicated road course and drag strip, with maybe a dirt track in the stadium for motocross?
Naah...the people across M-59 would complain about the noise.

At least. A 440 crate motor is in the $13k-$14k neighborhood and an old school hemi is $16k so I’m guessing closer to $20k. With the benefit of production scale it might be less but I’m betting not.

Wow, and thus the dominance of LS motors will continue for all but the Mopar fans

One can dream. State fair grounds too.
![]() 08/11/2015 at 16:31 |

See, there’s another great lot for sale down 8 mile (by the gas station west of Woodward that sells racing fuel) that’d be awesome for that. It’d probably be an easier sell down there. Probably easier at the State Fair grounds. From the Ferndale group I’m in on Facebook, I’d imagine there’d be nothing but complaints about the noise from the one further west...

The Ford motors are more reasonable, but the LS is the most popular for a reason.
![]() 08/11/2015 at 16:41 |

15k would be stupid cheap for a hellcat crate motor. I’m guessing 45k, at least from Mopar. A few years back, they were selling Gen II Hemis for 25K.
![]() 08/11/2015 at 16:55 |

Wow, I had no idea Mopar stuff was so expensive, no wonder LS motors or Fords are so much more popular
![]() 08/11/2015 at 16:58 |

it’s a sub 70k car, a 45k motor doesn’t leave a lot left for everything else, no wonder people say dodge car’s interiors stink!
![]() 08/11/2015 at 17:25 |

they’re doing a paywall shit too? meh, guess I’ll wait
![]() 08/11/2015 at 17:25 |

thanks, must’ve missed that update
![]() 08/11/2015 at 18:14 |

25k.

So excited! I’m going to watch right after work. It’s like five minutes from my office
![]() 08/11/2015 at 19:59 |

I’m sure you could get it cheaper from other sources, and the 25K engines were still in the 600hp range, but I don’t see a supercharged, aluminum block, 700hp engine listing for the same price (or cheaper) than the cast iron NA engines.
I did a little searching and Mopar doesn’t list prices in their catalog (at least not online that I could find), but I did find a site that lists the hellcat crate engines at 23K.
![]() 08/11/2015 at 20:01 |

It doesn’t cost 45k to make, that’s markup on a crate engine. Also, the base Challenger/Charger start around 20-25K, so it’s not like an interior cost all that much.

I know I could walk there from my house (from the good side of Opdyke rd).

true but the whole suspension and drive train are certainly beefed up significantly from the base models
