I live pretty much across the street from a supermarket, so I end up going there a lot. Unfortunately, they stock those small (around 1:42 - 1:36), cheap (about 3 - 3.50 bucks a pop, but they go on sale often) Welly model cars. In terms of bang for your buck those are absolutely unbeatable. They’re far from perfect, but they’re usually reasonably well sculpted, interiors are always really good, and some of them feel really nice and heavy as well. They’re also a good mix of supercars, classics and regular cars. I just can’t stop buying them. :( Today I popped over to the store for some booze and ice cream and ended up purchasing five of them, and there are still some more I kinda want to get even before they get new stock.

I think I might need a intervention. :(

They’re great for the price, although there are some that look a bit off. I think My Fiat 126p and my VW Passat Varian B5 are the worst in terms of that. Things like my 911 Carrera RS, Transit Connect and Defender look absolutely bang on though.

Am I allowed to take my Hot Wheels on that highway to hell?

I’ve started checking out the Hot Wheels at every store we step into. I’ve had to force myself to focus on Corvettes lest I buy 4-5 cars every trip and then have nowhere to put them.

I have a collection of something like 200 dinky cars from when I was a kid packed away in some paper ream boxes in my bedroom....I really should take them out and catalog them sometime.....some Majorette, some Hot Wheels, some Matchbox, some Maisto....Corgi, Tomica....

When I was a kid I was really into Maisto and bBurago 1:24 and 1:18 models. Had a really nice collection of them. Unfortunately, they didn’t survive my younger (6 years younger) brother growing up. :( I’d really love to have some of them back in a serviceable shape. I wasn’t that much into Hot Wheels as a kid, but I did have a bunch of small models from various brands, some of which I inherited from my uncle. I think my favourite one was a rally version of an Opel Kadett. Th epaint was peeling horribly even when I first got it, but damn I wish I knew where it was. I really ought to dig through the drawers of my old room at my parents’ place.

Hahaha! I’ll have to take a pic.....most of them are from when my brother and I were kids. Back then we were big into classic Chevrolets (specifically ‘55-’57 Chevys)....but my tastes have changed a LOT since then and, although I respect them a lot now, they’re not really my “thing” anymore :) (....as evidenced by my love for the 126 :P ).

From where I am sitting, there’s a Maisto ‘51 VW Beetle convertible, a Bburago ‘37 Jag SS100, a Bburago ‘92 Dodge Viper RT/10, a Bburago ‘96 Dodge Viper GTS Coupe, a Maisto ‘55 Mercedes 300S, a Maisto ‘55 BMW 502, a Road Legends ‘57 Chevy BelAir Police car, a Bburago Maserati 3200GT race car, just to name a few examples! (Including that ‘57 Chev Police car, there are like 9 other BelAirs from different model years and variants...wagons, sedans, coupes, fire/police cars...)

I’m trying to remember what cars I had, but it’s not that easy. I know my first 1:24 model was a purple Diablo. I also had a white mk 1 Ford Explorer. Other than that I remember a 1:18 Chrysler Pronto Cruizer ( identical as the one in this picture ), a 1:24 Mercedes SL R129, a Bugatti Atlantique, a lovely green classic split window Beetle (1:18) I spent ages saving up for, a couple of Vipers (an RT/10 and a GTS), a Fezza F50, a beautiful 1:18 mk 1 Vette in black and white, and many, many more I can’t currently remember. Most of them met their ends either when I was still very small and played vigorously with them (many wheels were lost) or later when my younger brother knocked them off my shelf since he was extremely curious about them. Damn do I miss my models. :(

If your Vipers were Bburago models, I bet they are the exact same ones I have!
