To obtain a large amount of on-track footage of the running of the 1970 Le Mans 24h race for the feature film “Le Mans,” an open-top Porsche 908 prototype car was entered into the competition by “Solar Productions” with an on-board film camera mounted on it. The pit stops for this car took extra long because of the need to change film cans, and yet at the end of the 24 hour event, the car finished in 9th place overall.

They also needed to stop in the pits twice as often because the cameras ran out of film before the car ran out of gas or tires.
