Used BRZ: slight hissing noise under some acceleration

Quick question (as in a response within 10 minutes would be nice) in looking at a brz, and on the test drive I noticed an occasional hissing sound, like escaping air, coming frm what sounded like just under the center of the dashboard. The ccar is pre owned and has the balance of factory warranty, but the cpo warranty is powertrain only. Is this something I should be concerned about .

God, kinja mobile feels like communicating with a vegetable.

any mods on the car? did the a/c blow cold? how loud was the hiss?

Leak in that noise tube thingy? The one that feeds intake noise into the cabin.

Probably the cabin engine noise thingy. It’s behind the glove box I think. You can plug it if you want.

Was this used car a factory buyback by any chance? If so, Steve Lehto recommends you not buy it.

Is this a private seller or dealer? If it's a dealer I would have them look into it.

If it was, it doesn’t show up on the carfax, and I doubt it would fit the criteria for a CPO car.

Uncomfortably so

moderately loud. Easily heard but not “loud”

well it sounds like the ac works properly so unlikely to be that, the only other thing that can make noise is the noise generator but I’ve never known it to make a hissing noise

AC was my first thought based on the sound. I can’t say what it might be, but the sound made me think of the air conditioning immediately. Could it be leaking and they just charge it up to mask it? (I really don’t know much about A/C systems. They’re just essential magic to me)

if there was a leak in the A/C system I don’t think it would blow cold anymore, could be wrong though as I too don’t know a great deal about it
