First of all I need to thank you for showing your support !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and needed someone to talk to. I wasn’t prepared to take my own life nor did I have actual thoughts to enact on harm on me or someone else, but it was an incredible struggle that day and I do appreciate the people who were willing to talk to me.
On the other hand, my brother just called me and said that the cops showed up and asked him about suicide threats from me two days before I made my post. I’m absolutely very sure I didn’t post any suicidal messages during that time period, in fact I was actually pretty OK and happy that day. Not just on Oppo but on pretty much any place, Facebook the entirety of the Interwebs what have you. So, um, I kind of want to know wtf was going on. Was I actually the victim of a coincidentally-timed swatting incident? Is there any way any of you can find out what’s going on?

First: From where did the police get the information?
Second: Why did they go to your brother?

My thoughts are that some “friend”, family member or acquaintance reported their “concerns” to the police.
I had my now-exwife do that to me 2 days before we moved houses (and just a few months before she left me).
In my case, I wasn’t depressed. But I did feel a heavy burden of the knowledge that moving houses would be a ton of work that I wasn’t looking forward to. Thus, I wasn’t feeling my usual cheery self. And that’s what I told the officer who contacted me. The officer was very polite.
My suggestion is to set things straight by talking to the officers directly... that you went through a tough time, got help and are past it now. And say you did write an article when you were feeling distressed. But at no time was that or anything else a suicide threat. It was a statement that you were going to defiantly carry on.
And just leave it at that.
And if you can find out from the officers or someone else who reported these “concerns”, I recommend that you carefully consider whether trust that person in the future.
