I’ve been a Marketing Consultant for a year and a half. The good: you get paid to analyze and recommend things to people. The bad: they won’t necessarily implement your recommendations, even if they should.
I prefer to see the results of what I spend time working on, so I’m looking to change careers. That said, it’s a gripe many consultants have but they’ve stayed in the business, regardless!
Either way, I don’t regret the experience. Wouldn’t know what I know now without it.

I would love to have a job where I just tell people what they’re doing wrong. I imagine consulting is something like that.

Did it for two years. Loved it, but had to travel 48 weeks a year, and got burned out. Saw a lot of cool places around the continent, and some that sucked. If you don’t have a ton of obligations, and the money is there (it was for me), at least try it out. Just make sure by ‘consulting’ they don’t mean ‘door to door knife sales’.

Be ready to travel all week-every week. It’s also very dependent upon what kind of consulting firm it is: Management, tech, financial, engineering, etc.

Fresh out of college. Money is definitely there. I hope I don’t get burned out. I think I might take it. Is it high pressure?

Yep travel is M-Thurs for me. Mostly tech/business consulting. The pay is good too. I’m fresh out of college.

That is a great gig to do fresh out of college. I own an IT company that does 20-30% consulting and am having to dial it back in that arena since we just had a kid. I love(d) it though
