I am bored. So, have a quick car review.

(Full Disclosure: I told my uncle to buy any car besides a Prius. He bought a Prius.)

Exterior: 5/10

The design is not radical, but it ain’t boring either. I get that design is a subjective thing, but in my opinion, the Prius does not excel in terms of attractive-ness. Also, most examples on the road today sport extremely bland colors, which is not helpful in accentuating the vehicle in any way.

Interior: 7/10

The interior is not very good-looking, but I like it. It is quite interesting, and was different from many other vehicles at the time when this automobile was new. It also has push-button start, which I find quite welcome in this setting. The column shifter doesn’t look good, though.

Handling / Power / Driving Characteristics: 0/0

I’m sorry. I didn’t drive it (I can’t drive yet. Hence my username). All I can say is that the “experience” seems bland and the car is capable of going from A to B.

Braking: 7/10

They work. That’s all you need to know.

Toys: 6.5/10

They’re pretty good for 2007.

This specific Prius has a touch-screen infotainment system, although it is rather lacking in functionality. Accessing the some graphs and playing audio are basically all that it can do. The volume and channel buttons can be pushed in and out. There is a rear view camera, and parking sensors! Yay! There are many cubbies to put YOUR STUFF. The speedometer is digital, and all the way in front. There is a multifunction steering wheel. The cup holders are well designed.

Value: 8/10

The Prius is good on gas, is cheap to buy and maintain, and that’s good and all. Just try to stay away from ones this vintage, as the batteries will need to be replaced soon, and that is costly.

Total: 33.5/50 or 67%

This is my first Opporeview, please give feedback! Thanks!

“I am bored”

Said every Prius owner every time they drive it.

Well. That covers the driving portion.

The seats are shit, you can't see out of the rear, and it's more exciting to watch paint dry than drive it.

Seats were not the best, but were okay, in my opinion.

I can see how it is probably more exciting to watch paint dry than to drive it.

My Mom now drives a 2001 Prius that we got from my grandmother (who no longer can drive). I had to borrow it once when my WRX was in the shop, and let me say:

1. I now understand distracted drivers. There was so little feedback of any sort that the car really was just boring. I found myself pulling out my cell phone in slow traffic, and had to remind myself to put it down.

2. Despite being numb, the damn thing can get out of its own way. The first gen Prius had only about 90hp, but a fair amount of torque thanks to the electric motor. Additionally, it’s light...I could easily bomb down the lower deck doing 70, but the problem was that my WRX would tell me what was going on under my tires and the Prius definitely did not. Over 65mph...they’re not boring anymore.

I’ve always wondered if these would make a good platform for a Bonneville car?

I honestly expected the seats to be more like couches. If there is not going to be any feedback/drivin feel of any sort at least make it over the top confortable. My uncle let me drive his a while ago on the highway and it was just awful. Possibly the least car* like thing I have ever been in. *my idea of what a car should be.

I’m really hoping this starts at 2:08 like it’s supposed to so that it makes sense. Nope it didn’t, jump to 2:08 for it to apply to this convo (they’re all funny though)

I ended up with a Prius as a rental car one time....never again. I got in the thing and couldn’t figure out how to start it. I’d push the ON button expecting something...nope...you have to shift gears with that POS in the dash to a different selection then shuffle it back and the car comes on. I was in the parking lot for like 10m trying to figure out how to turn it on. If I was in a horror movie I would’ve been killed a long time ago...or the killer would’ve laughed at me trying to get that POS going and let me live as leaving me alive with that car was worse than death.

It also seemed less than impressed with my Eco Driving as the little leaves that grow didn’t grow as fast as I constantly mashed on the gas trying to get the car to GO on the on-ramps.

I got home and hugged my car in the airport parking lot.
