I applaud you. Yes, it is a bit unimaginative, but less conservative than other SUVs on the market today.

Sad thing is that there are no “crazy wild” badges, nor is anything “crazy”, or “wild” about it, besides the price, or the mere fact that it’s a AMG G Wagen. Anyway, thanks to import taxes, this thing costs $424,000 USD. Woo Hoo.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say this was made with China in mind. “Crazy Wild” sounds like a Chinese car model.

A friend of mine did an internship in China, and when he came back he told me about their displacement-based taxes. I didn’t even believe him until he showed me the Chinese car sites, and how much cars are over there. Its an exponential tax for anything, if I remember correctly, above 2.0L. So even a base model CTS with a 3.6 was around $90K USD. He’s also in love with his Phaeton, and showed me that the W12 (when it was still offered) was around $500K USD. I would say that its a pretty effective way of driving people to buy smaller, more efficient cars.
