Uncle wants me to sell Lincoln who wants it?

So the 1959 Lincoln is sitting at my uncles and he wants it moved. I think it’s time to sell it. I have it listed on Craigslist for 1200. If anyone on Oppo wants it you can get it for a lot less. I want it to go to someone I know will take care of it and I can see the progress.

$1200? If only I had a way to get to Columbus. My dad lives around there, but there is no way he could hold it. Don’t have the money anyways.

I would think it would be more simple too. Just take the engine/transmission/front wheels/electricals from a wrecked FWD Caddy (which I’m sure could be found for cheap) and drop it in.

I love the design, and everything is there. A nice set of wheels, lowered jst a hair, a modern FI swap, and it would be sweet. I don’t think I’d even paint it.

Yeah she would love to have a trail Jeep.

So help me, I’ve been looking into the logistics of this thing. I think it would cost me about $150 in fuel to get up there, and if I could burgle a relative’s duallie for towing and a twin-axle trailer we’ve got, no rentals/etc. need apply. I showed it to a coworker and he’s egging me on. I just need to figure out if storage would work and if I could swing the Oppo Price from my general funds...

Well right now I have a guy that wants to buy $900 and he is really serious. He is making a deposit on Thursday (supposedly). Any time after that it is open for grabs again if he doesn’t make his first payment by Thursday. He is making an initial payment of 400 and then he’s going to pay from there.

If you are really intersed it will have to wait until after then. I am sorry. I wish you would have said something sooner. I would have loved to see it go to an Oppo.

No worries. As long as it’s going to somebody who isn’t using it as a lawn decoration or cutting it up or using chrome bits to make a Kustom and scrapping the rest. I wasn’t sure if it was even possible to think about until recently, so I didn’t say anything on that basis. The two huge motivating factors were rescue within the Oppo community and sheer amount of swag, but your needs trump that, and practicality isn’t nothing.

The funny thing is, I was tallying up what it will take at this point to finish the Ranchero, and it will be easily >$4500. Custom-building ain’t to fool around with, yo. With at least some chance (with my resources for working on it) of getting the Lincoln rolling and registered for much less than that, it looked to have some potential at least as an interim car, and with me needing to reallocate some of my debt around to more convenient form, it would be possible to come up with. The only trick, ironically enough, is that the property that things get parked on belongs to my dad, and he’s trying to reduce the amount it’s turning into an Island of Misfit Toys. If he objected and I got it rolling I could always have stuck it in mini storage for $25 a month until properly enginating, but anyway... It’s all down to what it will take to get running, and there’s some gamble involved.

It is a bit of a gamble to get it running but having a running 430 MEL would be pretty damn cool I think.
