It’s taken me that long to save up for this. Todays parts total, $2200. Going to talk to the engine builder on friday, the plan is a stroked 2.5l, head work, lighter forged internals, and alpha N with big honkin air box. Trans is a close ratio dog leg, and the rear is a limited slip 3.73, or 3.46, it’s been so damn long i forget.

I assume you mean alpha-N in reference to tuning... Is that because you’re running the individual speed stacks without going to a common plenum? If so, what are you using for all of that? All of the stuff I’ve messed with recently has been phasing out alpha-N stuff it seems.

Right now, we’re in parts accumulating mode. After this, we go to check cutting mode.

Yes for tuning, but it’s mainly because you can’t get a good seal on the front of the big air box, so running that with a mass air is a bad idea because you’d have air after the meter, also don’t want to run a stand alone engine management .. there’s a good little read here..

That’s an interesting setup, I’ve been looking into running a similar setup on one of the rotaries that is planned to go together sometime this year, doing some big ports and a slide throttle setup where pulling manifold pressure won’t be an option. It just seems like most of the computers that do alpha-N are falling by the wayside without going to the top end of the standalone spectrum. Try finding something that can handle alpha-N but yet advanced enough to handle dual spark per cycle with a dynamic split(all programmed in degrees not time preferably), it’s proving quite difficult.

It sounds like you have it all lined up. Do you have a blog or website with more details and photos? If you don’t please consider starting one, I love following builds.

13 to 15 range.

at that point stand alone seems to be the only way to go for you... a-n only knows throttle position and rpm, the only tune it knows is what you told it, theres no learning.

no, I dont have that kind of time, so i’ll just post it here to oppo when things are happening.

Yeah... It's no fun. Does the stock computer on those handle that? I figured that era would have some sort of mechanical MAF from the factory.

yes, it had an air flow meter (barn door) type set up, but you can map a chip to handle the alpha n, its a bosch 071 ecu.
