Still had about 2 gallons (according to Google) after filling up. Sat at 0 miles for a while though.

Some cars will go a very long time after the on-board computer says they are empty. In my first 3 series, a 1996 328is, I once drove 42 miles after the OBC hit zero miles to empty. Other cars not so much. My friend and I ran out of gas in a Mercedes CLK430 about 2 miles after the range hit zero.

Yeah. I've never gone to 0 miles. Part of me wanted to see how long it'd go. My truck: E means empty for real.

Had the same scare today. Fucking areas with almost no population! Nice to look at but no gas stations. Also pretty bad cellphone coverage so that google is no help. I finally stopped at a Honda dealership to ask where the next station was or even if they could sell me a jerry can full of fuel or something. Mechanic was like “I have to fill up this car anyway, so follow me.” I had about 4 litres left.

I was fortunate that if I did run out there were several options within not too bad walking distance. I just didn’t want it to die on a hill at a light.
