I recently gave the beater its first mod under my ownership: a front lip
I found what looked to be like door/wall molding for $1 a strip at my local Habitat for Humanity while looking for blinds. $3 later I drove home with it and installed it. 1 strip is 3-4 feet long so I only needed two to make the lip. Was pretty easy and didn’t take long. It scrapes <3

I’m not sure if I love it or hate it....

If the car was in better condition I’d have probably went the route of a real lip or ///M fascia but for some reason I still really like the way it looks

It would be a stretch to say that you ruined the car with this mod, so why not. I understand that you got it to mess around with and throw away when you’re done, so why not do all the tackiest mods you can do for under $25 or so. Is there a breakers yard nearby where you might find some F&F spoilers?

Am I the only one who thinks that the lip adds some NASCAR to the Bavarian Beater?

I actually really like the appearance of the lip, it gives it a beat/street sweeper look but I do understand how it can be seen as tacky. I want to go hit the junkyards for some odds and ends so there will probably be more questionable parts to come

Literally every time I see the car I say the same thing to myself. I’ve been slacking

Bavarian Beater—I like that, hope you don’t mind me using it. NASCAR was the adjective I was looking for, just couldn’t put my finger on it

Near the bottom I believe. Bavarian Beater would be a good tag.

You ended up with that car? I remember reading that article haha. It looks good, at least you have actual paintwork. Any severe rust issues? Interesting, my fogs are missing and I only have one kidney grill while your grilles are missing and you only have one fog

Seems to just be surface rust, but many Michigan winters are giving me problems doing the rear trailing arm reinforcement.

That blows, broken bolts drive me up the wall. If you’re taking it rallying, dealing with the annoyance of rta reinforcement will pay off.
I’m considering doing the rtab’s because the car is very sketchy when it’s damp out or going over bumps in the rain which may point to bad bushings back there; I’m not sure if it’s even worth it at this stage in the car’s life though.

I wasn’t going to do the bushings but since I’m going through all this effort I might as well. The broken bolt shall be getting drilled and helicoil’d
